Another slight set back today :(

Had a regular antenatal appointment this morning just to check progress. The first time she took my bp it was low, then when she took it again after 5 minutes, it was too high! She also thought there might be a problem with my bloods, plus she thought my face was fat (nice!) so, next thing I know, she's ringing the hospital and arranging me to go in there and then, with my bloods taken and myself + bump needing monitoring.

So, very anxious (again) and by myself, I pootle on down to the hospital, where I've spent 3 hours on a ward. I've been hooked up to various machines, to measure my heart rate/blood pressure, to measure bump's heart rate and blood pressure. Had more blood taken and analysed. It seems that everything is alright *tough wood* but yet more things to keep an eye on, plus more things to monitor at home. I have to ring the ward immediately if I feel anything has changed.

The usual advice was given; take it easy, don't take on too much at work, keep stress and anxiety at bay (easier said than done though) and make sure I'm looking after myself.

I'm so emotionally drained this afternoon; we've got an antenatal class at 6pm tonight so I think I'm going to go and have a nap for a bit.

SF, I take it she suspected preeclampsia? If so, they take it very seriously and it's a case of better safe than sorry.

If there wasn't anything of note when they did 'the trace' (i.e. baby heart, tests etc.), fingers crossed it remains that way.

I'm sure they already mentioned it, but elevated blood pressure is also fairly typical for a first time mother at hospital appointments, I lost track of the number of times they told Mrs E that.

Take it easy (it might be an idea to reconsider how late you plan on working before the birth?) :)

So sorry to hear you've had to be in the ward even temporarily, SF. Thats good that you've got an ante-natal class this evening - and I'm with Ed, reconsidering work schedule might be a really good idea. Birthing a baby is really the focus, isn't it - everything else can wait.

Hope you get some good sleep tonight - do you have a CD of relaxation/mindfulness stuff?

Ed - I presume so, though no one actually mentioned that at any point, though I can only think that the combination of signs could be a warning of that. I sincerely hope not! The thing is, as soon as something could potentially be wrong, my bp goes through the roof anyway, which doesn't help. I don't react well to stress, apparently :o

KC - hoping to make it til 9pm, then have a bath and bed. I'm absolutely shattered, so I'm hoping that sleep won't be an issue this evening. I'm going to continue plodding along at work but will re-consider how long I'm going to stay there if necessary. After all, bump is most important now.

Another day done :) one that was much more straightforward, thank goodness.

NSD no. 9 for me today :) we've had slow cooked lamb with chips and veg for tea, which was very tasty indeed. Courtesy of M&S ;) though we never have lamb normally, so I'm going to look at some recipes in a second as it was really good. I always seem to think that lamb is expensive?

I had the highest views ever on the blog yesterday, mainly due to the fact I did an interview with another, much more well known pf blogger which sent lots of traffic my way :) This weekend I am going to look at self-employment more seriously, and potentially start that ball rolling. I have been looking at google adsense as a starting point, mainly because it seems relatively straight forward to set up, providing they accept my blog. I also want to look more at affiliates, so lots of research/reading I think :)

Oh! Almost forgot :o I've done an OP of £100 which takes us to £120.19 for the month, so that'll be all the OPs in June. Nice to get that sorted already; our mortgage now stands at £102,440 so plodding in the right direction. A part of me wants to OP lots so that its under 6 figures, but I know that's not particularly practical right now ;)

    Happy Thursday everyone :)
