Breastfeeding hasn't been at all straightforward for Mrs E, DD does not seem to be very good at it (despite her mother's hard work!) We're now 10% BF/45% expressed milk/45% formula. It's definitely easier for some women - we have a friend who was able to express double the amount Mrs E has ever managed the day after her baby was born! Overachievers... :rotfl:

Mentioned for conversation, let's avoid another giant BF debate on forum :D

Lunch yesterday was lovely; I had roast pork loin with a yorkshire pudding and lots of veg and gravy :) followed by lemon posset with homemade warm shortbread biscuits. Two courses were £13.95 and well worth it :)

The carpet in the nursery has been fitted today :j :j so the cot is finally up too; it is beginning to feel a bit more real...! I can't decide where I want the cot and chest of drawers to be; the room is small so there isn't a lot of choice in that, but I might have another shuffle around at some point. We now need to look at blackout blinds for in there, but as the baby will be sleeping in our room to begin with, it's not a massive rush in that respect.

DH's mum called round earlier with some M&S ready meals for us - she said she's worried about me and she's bought them so that I don't need to do as much cooking after work this week. Feel a bit guilty really! I am more and more tired and less energetic, but that's to be expected at this stage. Nothing to worry about, I'm sure. However, one of them is a sticky pork belly joint and she's bought some of their mash potato, so I know what we're having for tea tomorrow :D it also means I don't need to remember to take the chicken out of the freezer :rotfl:

NSD no.6 for me today, so plodding along nicely there.

Not much else to report; happy Monday everyone :)

Ooh, can we have a yorkshire pudding debate instead of a bf debate??? Best ever: a pub in Harrogate, with onion gravy. Bliss :)

And good heavens, SF, you *really* don't need to feel guilty that your MiL is bringing you M&S ready meals! She intends exactly what you wrote, that you don't need to faff about what to eat. Thats a good, practical level of support :)

Hope you're having a good day.

Glad to hear the room is taking shape. :) Mrs. K. and I had the discussion about decorating our son's room but I hate the cliched "child's room" and want it to stay in keeping with the rest of the house.

As for the cooking, I want to know where all these cooking wives are to be found? When Mrs. K. was pregnant and for 6/7 months after, she refused to do anything in the house, including cooking.

Yorkshire pud with gravy is one of my all-time favourite comfort foods :) and of course, the north does it best ;) my grandma used to do them as a start for sunday dinner - massive yorkie pud with gravy as a starter, followed by the roast and trimmings. Don't know how I used to fit it all in! :rotfl:

I know; it really is lovely of her to do that. I just feel a bit guilty as I know that M&S food is more expensive! That being said, it was lovely this evening to not have to faff around with cooking :)

We've gone with yellow walls which will have prints hung on them - nothing too out there for us :)

Refused to do anything.....? That's a bit harsh I feel. I generally like cooking but I am getting substantially more tired as the days go along, so it's nice to have a bit of a break :)

    Another day done :)

Feel very indulgent this evening as we've had one of the m&s meals; slow cooked bbq brisket with mashed potato and greens, followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard. How decadent :D I'm ridiculously full now but oh my, so worth it :) and best of all, hardly any washing up :j :j

NSD 7 for the SF household; I took left over chilli for lunch time today which was very tasty and much welcomed at lunch. I've checked the bank balances and all seems to be normal, which is good :) nothing major expected to go out over the next week or so, so apart from food and petrol, not many spending days here.

One of the things I must get round to, however, is making a list of all the things we still need to buy before D-day. Things like stuff for the hospital, practical things for both me and bump, and then other little bits and pieces. I feel like I'm going to forget something! So, a list it is :)

I've posted a blog post today about how I organise our finances, if anyone wants to take a look :)

    Happy Tuesday everyone.

Your nursery bedroom sounds rather nice. :) Far too many people I know have gone down the route of "themed" children's rooms / nurseries. All nice enough for a party but I'm sure it'd grow old very soon.

As for my wife, it wasn't a nice time for either of us and I suppose she had issues of her own. When I first met her, doing any cooking made her feel ill as she didn't like preparing raw ingredients (still doesn't), she lived in a student house and had a friend cook all her meals in exchange for her doing all the cleaning. :rotfl: These days she will cook and is a lot better in the kitchen around our son, suppose she doesn't want him to be like that when he's a student. I'm still waiting (in my dreams ....) for her to have my dinner prepared the minute I walk through the door, though. ;)

I would be delighted to be gifted M&s food. I went through a phase of doing a weekly shop there but when I last went it didn't seem to be as reasonable as I remembered. £3 for 6 eggs for example which I buy locally for £1 for 6. I do get tempted by their treat food though and my children went through a phase of only eating grapes from there!

Good to hear nursery taking shape, such exciting times for you.

Another family with a yellow baby room here, pink was too hideous to consider and we already have a very large blue hall (a light blue, a significant change to the crimson paint that preceded it)!
