Pies, beauty treatments - yep, and don't forget to watch the sunset too - right now, I broke off in typing this, because there's lines of bright pink across the sky, as the setting sun lights up the underside of the clouds, its so beautiful ... and so fleeting.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I love a good sunset - there's something quite magical about them
Thanks everyone - I am taking everything on board. After years of being critical and quite horrible to myself at times, it's taking a bit of time to change my mindset. But, perhaps I should loosen the purse strings just a bit, for a slightly better peace of mind.Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Loosen your purse strings indeed.
I am not saying go mad but just relax a wee bit.
As a wee aside 13 years ago I bought my very first Radley after a close family member died.No I could not afford it but it has given me so much pleasure over the years & I now have it on my bedroom wall & look at it every day.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Loosen your purse strings now, you may not be able to once baby comes along
It may interest you to know that I've started a baby expenditure spending diary. Based on the first week's expenditure, we were looking at a horrific projected expenditure of £1k+/mth. Luckily that was just averages doing their best to frighten me and costs are dropping steadily (now down to a mere £650/mth)!
Once electric gizmos are out of the way I expect the numbers to fall significantly.
Take care.0 -
I think it *can* be done on much less - friends of mine kept a weather eye on their expenditure, not exact, and they spent around the child allowance amount, on average.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I am sure that sounds doable KC, the first fortnight is not the time to be drawing conclusions!0

£1k+ a month?!  I'm hoping that is not the case for very long, if at all.
30 weeks todayI put a picture up on fb of bump and people are commenting on how small and neat I am. I am small, but trying not to worry. I have taken it easy this week as I'm off work for half term. I just need to remember to not rush around as much next week when I'm back at work. I've definitely got a bit of a waddle going on now
Our spending has got a bit out of control this month, though I think that's a combination of factors, including sorting out the new car and buying things for the nursery. I have also bought some clothes and other bits and pieces, not that any of it costs a lot. Perhaps I should do a baby expenditure spreadsheet, to see what it all adds up to!
Over the weekend I'll do a round up of our accounts, so I can finally update our Ultimate Dream Fund number and then update my sig

I feel a bit down today
not sure why. I feel quite tearful at times, though having cuddles with sleepy cats is helping.
We've been out today and finally managed to get a carpet for the nursery, to be fitted in a couple of weeks. It has cost us £140 plus fitting which doesn't seem too bad at all. We've gone for an oatmeal colour, hard wearing and generally robust carpet, in the hopes that it'll last us a while. One that looks like it'll be easy to clean too:eek:
I'll do a final sweep of the accounts tomorrow before updating numbers. I do know that our savings haven't been as high this month, as I'm not going to add any more tomorrow. I'm also miles away from my revised NSD target, though not actually that surprising.
Been to Mr Ms today and spent just under £50 on food and other supplies for the week. Our general spends are creeping up, but I have bought more substantial things for me to eat for lunches at work during the week, including granary bread, tinned tuna, nuts and seeds, mejool dates and yogurt.
I want to go back to bed, I can do that, right?

Hormones? Mrs E weeps once every couple of days at the mo, before that it was once or twice a year! Silly things that wouldn't normally be a consideration, like sad news articles, or a feeling that she can't quite express.0
