Where is the best value place to live in the country considering...

I've started looking again after a lull, and still think North Wales is good value, but I think property values vary significantly depending upon the distance from the coast. I'm trying to find something wrong with this. Perhaps most properties are set at unrealistic prices, and this is just more sensible?

North Wales is good value, but I'd want to be sure I was comfortable with a place where many locals will speak another language much of the time.
If that might bother you, Pembrokeshire, roughly south and west of the A40 is also relatively cheap (away from coast) and more English speaking. Weather might be a tad better too.

No parking?
The precise location is not where Street View first takes you, which is a more mixed commercial/industrial part of the Terrace. The location for this property is much, much nicer IMHO. Perhaps folk only look online and think the property is at the "wrong" end of the Terrace?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Yes I liked Pembrokeshire when visiting a while back, but why do you think the weather is better. Drier in Anglesey
Regards language - good point! Anglesey has the second highest percentage of native Welsh language speakers in Wales (70% of the population).

So many places accesssible and the locals are friendly0 -
Yes, and it's not just a case of relating to the language, but the culture that goes with it too.Yes I liked Pembrokeshire when visiting a while back, but why do you think the weather is better. Drier in Anglesey
Yes, Anglesey is in Ireland's rain shadow to some extent, but being more southerly, South Pembrokeshire might be slightly warmer. I think comparisons look marginal and local microclimates will have more impact in the real world.

I don't believe that's a problem for everyone, mind. I'm sure I could adapt to living in Welsh speaking parts of Wales better than some places in England! :rotfl: 0 -
30% in Anglesey are non Welsh born verses 21% for Wales overall

EPC is poor.
If it's just poorly-insulated, that's easily fixed - but check it isn't some non-standard form of construction0 -
The majority of them aren't much better than E, and unlike this one many don't have gas.
I won't be purchasing quickly but just trying to get a feel for prices. 200k is more typical for a three bed detached bungalow on the Island. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=39429557&sale=50331881&country=england0 -
