Also i am rather saddened to hear that some people have been put off posting here as it was intended to be a helpful and fun thread for all. Please pass on my personal apologies for anything that has caused offence.
Can i check with you as well regarding sbtv - mine hasn't worked for days and am just wondering if thats being sorted out at all? I'm sure it must be affecting others too but strangely not everyone.
Thanks again Nick for taking the time to respond and for your honesty.
Oh, could i make a suggestion regarding the walls/offers that are of poor quality? Obviously you do not have the time to check them all out, however you do have at your disposal a very large community of testers - you could always offer a small incentive - even just 1 sb for submitting information about a poor offeri'm sure a lot of people would soon provide you with feedback
or have an offer check on the fb wall with one person randomly being awarded sb's for taking part

Hi, can I ask how how you were able to get it sorted so quickly as I completed a survey yesterday on TrialPlay which didn't credit, upon clicking the support button it does not show on there ?
I had this today - did a survey, no credit and not showing in support. I have a screenshot of the completion screen but don't think that will do me any good.0 -
Hi all. Hope all is good.
Can i just try to clear a couple of things up and respond to a few things written on here over the last couple of days.
The implication that Swagbucks has deteriorated to the level where we don't care what we put up, or that we are so bothered about making money from an affiliate deal we are not concerned about the quality of that deal is just plain wrong. Completely and utterly wrong. I can only tell you how i see things and i am completely and utterly honest on this. SB powers that be pride themselves totally on being better than their peers, and being cleaner than their peers. They pride themselves on the no spam thing, on doing exactly what we say we will. When things don't work, like surveys and people being screened out after 30 minutes, it really hurts us and we try our best to sort it out.
The special offer walls are one thing. I hear what you say about all sorts of bad offers being up there. Since i started i have been trying to sort that out by dealing with the offer walls themselves. Telling them again and again we don't want offers up that spam and we don't want offers up that are bad, ie spyware, viruses etc etc. The problem is that some slip through the net - it is impossible for me to police each wall every day, but i am trying to change the culture on the walls so less and less of these offers get through. The ideal is to have a situation where we can trust the download options on these walls completely, but obviously we are not there yet. This offer yesterday was a direct offer, ie we were recommending it, it went straight to inbox, it was checked and the word from LA as that it was fine. As soon as they realised (a few of you alerted me to negativity surrounding that offer and i escalated that straightaway) that it had negative connotations, they pulled it straight away. It was, in other words, an entirely honest mistake. They thought the offer was a good one for the users, and indeed no -one has reported anything bad YET stemming from that offer, but even so we pulled it in good faith because there was negativity. We did NOT keep it up because we were bothered about making money. That is the antithesis of the way we work.
I can deal with negativity. I wouldn't do the job if i couldn't. I appreciate that things are not perfect and that some things don't work. I appreciate how frustrating surveys are and i am trying trying to make things better, but its tough, i admit. That's a whole different discussion. But i take huge exception to the implication that we don't care, that we are just bothered about making money, that we are just like the others, because we are not. We do care, the community and its happiness is the be all and end all to us.
May i make another point please? It would appear that are lots of very tech savvy people on this thread and that perhaps is what the common denominator is for people who post on here. Not everyone is tech savvy though, and to sneer at people for thinking that anti virus equipment works isn't great. Lots of people believe that, it may be wrong, but they don't deserve opprobrium for not being as tech savvy as you. A couple of people have been very upset at being sneered at for making the not unreasonable assumption that anti virus protects you. I know it doesn't always at all but it is not an unreasonable assumption.
The community has always been a place of bonhomie and good will, where people come together to help each other achieve what they want to achieve. And i would be very sad if it descended into sneering, backbiting, general cynicism and relentless negativity. I am by no means accusing you guys of this, i am talking generically, mainly about elements on FB, especially with a view to the HUGE amount of negativity surrounding the 5th party which i thought was so unnecessary and mean spirited. But on this issue of sneering, maybe you'll take my point, maybe not. It's meant in good faith anyway, and as i say, a couple of people were really hurt to read this thread and see that they were laughed at like that. So much so they dont ever want to post any more.
Okay, essay over. As you were! Hope you don't find my comments provocative. That is not as they were intended.
Best wishes
Nick
cheers nick guilty as charged about the antivirus thing but i got to the end of my rope with people not listening to me about that offer and telling me all was ok etc etc. it wasn't. i had tried to be polite lol but it just annoyed me that people were ignoring it over and over and only cared about their sb's. but yea sorry
i find the negativity over the bday thing on facebook a bit boggling and i think some on there moan for the sake of it. it wasn't perfect but we all had an opportunity to earn extra so how is that bad?
i am gobby but not nasty honest lolOriginally Posted by easylife73:

thrifty felicity - the problem is that we have so many survey providers and we dont know when or what kind of surveys they are going to provide to our users. to complicate things further, the likes of toluna host only some of the surveys they get from their clients, so basically dont have much control over 50 per cent of those. the ones they do control, they can sort out, try to get screening questions at beginning etc, but the ones they don't control they have no real quality control over. the client determines how it is. and so it's pretty impossible to say what browser etc you need to do each survey in as we are not privy to that info at all. what i am doing is trying my best to try to make the likes of toluna realise that it's not acceptable for users to be being screened out after half an hour of work, and make them realise that something needs to be done. one way around is to have so much info on our users that the surveys only go to the people that are right for each survey, kind of like cint, but obviously this comes with its problems...
fairyclicks, sbtv IS being looked into but what complicates the issue is that it is working for lots of people. can you specify exactly what your problem is and send me any relevant screenshots as well as giving me details of browser and version you are using. by the way, your idea re asking users to check the walls is one i have been looking into for a few weeks. thing is many users dont want to do the paid offers and many dont want to do downloads. i think there is something there though, will report back asap
tyrolean dancer, i appreciate that there were things about the party that weren't perfect. the site kept crashing, for one, and next time we will need extra tech staff. but unless we did separate promotions for each country it was inevitable that the 24 hour period would favour the US and that the later codes would be early in our morning. to compensate we tried to give away lots of codes before USA woke up and give SBs away through games too. considering UK is less than 5 per cent of traffic, i think it was okay and the fact a brit won one of the 5 $1000 dollar prizes was good. that was entirely random by the way but i am so pleased it happened. but it COULD have been better explained, fair point, and for that i apologise.
trish, since you saw fit to take our private conversation public i haven't got anything else to say to you.
but fwiw i am not complaining about MSE users on here, far from it, it's an amazing site and this thread is magnificent. i had a minor gripe about the sneering over tech issues and the upset that caused. personally i would rather not 'tell things as they are', as you put it, if it unnecessarily upsets people, but each to their own.
no, i am taking issue with a growing tone of negativity on the FB page that is insidious and in the main not at all helpful. of course we welcome good constructive criticism, we need it and we embrace it. without it we'd be stuffed. but the FB page is in the main meant to be about bonhomie, good humour, camaraderie, helping each other, and not just endless moaning. after all SB is done entirely on your own terms, you choose how much or little time you spend with us. we are just trying to make your time spent online more rewarding. we are honest and we are working hard to do that. sometimes we are more successful than others. but it's a real pity if the FB page degenerates into a slanging match.
anyway, nice to talk to you all...“Official Company Representative
