Hi all. Hope all is good.

Can i just try to clear a couple of things up and respond to a few things written on here over the last couple of days.

The implication that Swagbucks has deteriorated to the level where we don't care what we put up, or that we are so bothered about making money from an affiliate deal we are not concerned about the quality of that deal is just plain wrong. Completely and utterly wrong. I can only tell you how i see things and i am completely and utterly honest on this. SB powers that be pride themselves totally on being better than their peers, and being cleaner than their peers. They pride themselves on the no spam thing, on doing exactly what we say we will. When things don't work, like surveys and people being screened out after 30 minutes, it really hurts us and we try our best to sort it out.

The special offer walls are one thing. I hear what you say about all sorts of bad offers being up there. Since i started i have been trying to sort that out by dealing with the offer walls themselves. Telling them again and again we don't want offers up that spam and we don't want offers up that are bad, ie spyware, viruses etc etc. The problem is that some slip through the net - it is impossible for me to police each wall every day, but i am trying to change the culture on the walls so less and less of these offers get through. The ideal is to have a situation where we can trust the download options on these walls completely, but obviously we are not there yet. This offer yesterday was a direct offer, ie we were recommending it, it went straight to inbox, it was checked and the word from LA as that it was fine. As soon as they realised (a few of you alerted me to negativity surrounding that offer and i escalated that straightaway) that it had negative connotations, they pulled it straight away. It was, in other words, an entirely honest mistake. They thought the offer was a good one for the users, and indeed no -one has reported anything bad YET stemming from that offer, but even so we pulled it in good faith because there was negativity. We did NOT keep it up because we were bothered about making money. That is the antithesis of the way we work.

I can deal with negativity. I wouldn't do the job if i couldn't. I appreciate that things are not perfect and that some things don't work. I appreciate how frustrating surveys are and i am trying trying to make things better, but its tough, i admit. That's a whole different discussion. But i take huge exception to the implication that we don't care, that we are just bothered about making money, that we are just like the others, because we are not. We do care, the community and its happiness is the be all and end all to us.

May i make another point please? It would appear that are lots of very tech savvy people on this thread and that perhaps is what the common denominator is for people who post on here. Not everyone is tech savvy though, and to sneer at people for thinking that anti virus equipment works isn't great. Lots of people believe that, it may be wrong, but they don't deserve opprobrium for not being as tech savvy as you. A couple of people have been very upset at being sneered at for making the not unreasonable assumption that anti virus protects you. I know it doesn't always at all but it is not an unreasonable assumption.

The community has always been a place of bonhomie and good will, where people come together to help each other achieve what they want to achieve. And i would be very sad if it descended into sneering, backbiting, general cynicism and relentless negativity. I am by no means accusing you guys of this, i am talking generically, mainly about elements on FB, especially with a view to the HUGE amount of negativity surrounding the 5th party which i thought was so unnecessary and mean spirited. But on this issue of sneering, maybe you'll take my point, maybe not. It's meant in good faith anyway, and as i say, a couple of people were really hurt to read this thread and see that they were laughed at like that. So much so they dont ever want to post any more.

Okay, essay over. As you were! Hope you don't find my comments provocative. That is not as they were intended.

    Best wishes
    Nick

  • Thanks Nick, it's always good to hear the other side.
  • Nick, can I just make another suggestion regarding the surveys?

Besides them not crediting, or being DQ'd after having spent time on answering questions (or even after completing the survey), another area that needs improvement is the information given about the browser needed to complete the survey BEFORE the survey is started. Sometimes IE is needed to properly complete the survey, but this isn't revealed until AFTER the survey is started. It is usually impossible to continue the survey with another browser, and the survey opportunity is therefore lost. It would be most helpful if BEFORE "start survey" is clicked, there is a notice saying that "Internet Explorer version xx is required to complete this survey".

    Thanks :)

p.s. I enjoyed the birthday festivities, and racked up more Swagbucks than I think I've ever earned in a single day (somewhere around 350) :j

  • Ooh, ooh, Nick, before you go....any idea why I haven't been able to watch SBTV since the new homepage appeared?!? :)

Ahhh i just posted a big reply and it got lost as was disconnected. I was just saying thank you for letting us know how things stand from the company perspective and the reassurance regarding the pc offer being removed.

Also i am rather saddened to hear that some people have been put off posting here as it was intended to be a helpful and fun thread for all. Please pass on my personal apologies for anything that has caused offence.

Can i check with you as well regarding sbtv - mine hasn't worked for days and am just wondering if thats being sorted out at all? I'm sure it must be affecting others too but strangely not everyone.

Thanks again Nick for taking the time to respond and for your honesty.

Oh, could i make a suggestion regarding the walls/offers that are of poor quality? Obviously you do not have the time to check them all out, however you do have at your disposal a very large community of testers - you could always offer a small incentive - even just 1 sb for submitting information about a poor offer :D i'm sure a lot of people would soon provide you with feedback ;) or have an offer check on the fb wall with one person randomly being awarded sb's for taking part :D

  • I added the amount of sb for the £25 voucher i claimed and added it to my current total as i had about 3 sb at the start of the month :) you can also check your daily earnings though on the daily target box - click on show goal history and you will have a daily amount you can add :D HTH
I used a tip from here - just opened up the calculator next to the goal history and totted up the points.

R1 paid up this morning for the uncredited 7sbs for that odd game they were promoting - uber fast response, so happy with that.

Here's hoping for a TS or DS today - if not, shall definitely be using the snapfish offer!
Go to your ledger, set the range from the start of the month until today and add whatever you have redeemed.

    Like buses :D thank you.
I have done very well as I had 2 very active referrals :)
I will add it up and post later.

Thank you Nick for taking the time to explain what happened to us. It is a shame that some people don't want to post :(
As for the birthday party there was a lot of excitement leading up to it and I think some got very frustrated and disappointed when it crashed but negative comments are not helpful. It was a long day for us here in the UK, waiting for those last codes was exhausting but we got there in the end - well I gave up and went to bed :rotfl:
    Thanks again :)

Right, so everything everyone posts on this topic has to be all nice and not negative at all.

The 5th birthday party thing was a bit of a cop out. It was not explained well at all. You have to understand the complete and utter frustration of the UK members on this one.

We get geared up for this big HUGE massive event and then sit around waiting for the codes to eventually start trickling through (but only once the USA users wake up and start helping) ..
The full puzzle gets revealed right at start ...
Then it went and flipping crashed half way through.
And then the draw winners getting announced 4 usa 1 uk, and the final code was out about 3am (uk time)

That party thing could have been done so much better.

MSE users tell it how it really is. If other people can't cope, that's their problem. This is real life with real accurate views.
