Morning All,
Happy New Year. It was a late one here, 7am we went to bed although DS1 and I crashed on the sofa at around 3am. DH and DS2 sat playing games then the PS3 til I woke up and chased them to bed. Rock'n'roll lives on in the JackieG house lol! The boys and I got up at 11.30 but OH is still in the land of nod. I have just put a pot of veg soup on and it will be soup and buffet bits for dinner. We'll go see MIL at some point later, I will drive as I only had half a bottle of cider and two Bailey's to ring in the new year.
Tree normally comes down on the sixth but I have a few bits of DIY for OH to do, so may do it tomorrow as I am out with friends on Thursday and busy on Friday and he has his annual p - up with his friends on Saturday, so I have no hope of any help at the weekend :rotfl:
I am going to follow redruby's example and upgrade my sistercas fund to a Tenner a week, which will go straight into my credit union account. My sis also owes me some money which she insists on paying back this year, so I've asked her to do the same, which will add up to a nice amount. I have no intention of taking it back though, I'll put it in an account for my nephew and just not tell her about it. He can have it when he is 18 to pay for his driving lessons.( we paid for DNiece to learn for her 18th as she is my goddaughter)
I will try harder to keep in touch this year, I do read almost every day but posting on my phone is a pita, hope you all have a safe and healthy new year. Special hugs to Jools and unclebryn too.

Morning all
Blwydden Newydd Dda i chi gyd!! Happy New Year all!!
I hope you all enjoyed regardless of what you did. I had a lovely time at my friends house. There were 6 of us, my friend from camp came too. We drunk copious amounts of cocktails in varying shades of the rainbow
, ate food and gossiped. At midnight we watched the fireworks and then went out the back door, and back in through the front door to welcome in the new. Stayed up til about 2.30am. Woke up at 10am, had breakfast, watched a film and then came home. I'm remarkably hangover free! :j
Thanks for the well-wished re my operation tomorrow. It's small op to drain 2 masses in my sinuses, which they hope will help with my vertigo. I will probably have to stay in overnight
but should be home Thursday lunchtime. Trying not to think about it right now. I need to pack my bag and sort few bits out ready.
Flutterby - I just can't see Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. I've read all the books and loved them but as Hester said he's supposed to be 6ft 5 and very muscular - hardly Tom Cruise:cool:
Tappers/hester/Shalva - film was good, but Tom Cruise isn't really Jack Reacher in stature!! There was one scene in a bar where he walks through the room, and all the people in the bar were shorter than Tom. Both me and my friend commented that they must have hired midgets for that scene :rotfl:. Not as good as the books, but very watchable.
I too have set up a DD for payday to my 'sistercas' fund. But I'm only doing £20 a month as I don't spend much at Xmas really, £220 this year which included Xmas party and outfit as well as presents and food.
Plans for today......it's sunny so I should go for a walk! But the sofa is calling! I'll see how I feel after a shower. Xmas tree needs to come down today, just in case I'm out of action on weekend, simple enough as there are only baubles to take off! I may keep cards up bit longer.
OS wise - lunch was various bits from freezer, WM been on (whoops, but needed clean stuff!), dinner will either be from freezer or a naughty takeaway!
Have a lovely day all

Morning (afternoon...) all... Having a lovely unhungover new year, it's an unusual start but I'm quite liking it actually! Been for a wander round the shops to be nosy at the sales, and everywhere I wanted to go was shut, so done wonders at saving too!
At the boyfriends for now as well so don't even need to fuss over cooking - more time to curl up with my knitting
Hope everyone has a lovely day x*2016 - the year of the savings account!*

Hi chums Happy New Year to one and all
<<hugs for Jools and unclebryn>> you were in my thoughts last night and I raised a glass of bubbly to you both.Had a great night and we went to DDs sis-in-laws and had a family 'do' Lovely curry for a change with all the trimmings, and not a turkey one either, which was great.
Home this afternoon and been decluttering bits and pieces and then I'm off to youngest DDs for dinner shortly, think were having Lamb which is nice as its my son-in-law's speciality and he always cooks for all of the extended the family on New Years Day.Then back home to my own little cottage, and I will sleep in my own bed tonight first time since the night before Christmas Eve.
I have enjoyed myeslf immensely over the holidays, and I am so lucky that my family are always around but it will also be nice to be back in my own home and bed tonight.
Tomorrow I have lots of tidying up and cleaning to do and deccluttering some books and bits to the charity shop.
No shopping to buy though as I came home with lots of bits and pieces and left over stuff. Big box of cheese biscuits that weren't even opened, they will be used up during the month along with pickles, chutneys and lots of other stuff.
Don't even need milk as DD had far too much and I came home with a couple of litres to use up
So shopping with be marginal to say the least this month:)
Right I'm off to have a cuppa then get ready to go to DDs for the evening
Cheers chums

Hi all,
Am coming down to earth now after the madness of the past week (or two or three). Went to DS and family yesterday and had a glorious time cuddling baby Mia who is the most placid, smiley, chuckley soul you can imagine. She is adored by everyone especially her half brother, who absolutely worships her, actually they have a mutual admiration society.
Came home feeling really rough and a full blown cough and cold developed during the evening. This is very wrong, I DON'T GET COLDS. Spent today wrapped up in a fleece in bed or on the sofa. Didn't feel like eating so decided to designate today as one of my fasting days - I'm going to try doing it twice a week. Mmmmm ...we'll see.
Glitterkitty and TTFTM: thank you for the Neil Gaiman quotes, they are lovely and I must investigate him further, he's a new one on me.
I can only offer you an adapted Chinese proverb, between sneezes.
May your year be filled with happiness and your home be filled with love. May your cat and dog dwell together in amity, your hen lay two eggs every day and your garden flourish beyond all expectation.
Love to you all
