I didn't get to declutter my wardrobe, I opened the door and then shut it again, looked like a BIG job
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find 5 items you just don't care about, and get them out quick.
Have an escape route ready, bundle them into your arms and shut the door, don't look back, don't think about the others you've left behind. Regroup in the kitchen by the ironing board. Lay them flat on the board and decide if they are bin, CS or eBy.
Debrief us tomorrow and see if you can accept another missionI have quite a few things that I could sell, but I am incident prone, things do seem to happen to me that truly aren't my fault, due to the mismanagement of others.
I could expand but there have been some genuinely moving posts on here and I don't want to witter on about something that doesn't perhaps compare
One thing I have decided since starting this, is that I will not leave DD a legacy of my memories. What I mean by that is I don't want her looking at some object after I am gone and thinking "this used to remind mum of the smell of her grandmother's house" when she in fact has no first hand experience from it. She can think "I love this because I remember mum loving it" if that is true, but not "I have to keep this because ..."
She will have enough things that have their own memory for her. If she asks why I am keeping something, for now I will say vaguely " oh I don't know, perhaps it reminds me of something".
We have plenty to chat about and remember between us without me burdening her with inherited second-hand recollections
Anyway, on a lighter note, yesterday I drove to a nearby large town to post my eBy items, as main roads are more passable than locals. Lots to post, have even stopped watching auctions end now there are so many. Looked at sale-enders and bought one Maine top (other years Iwould have bought 6), loads of wild bird seed and had a nice pub lunchYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
My decluttering is coming on very slowly, but progress is progress so I'm reasonably happy. I've managed to find loooooads of clothes and shoes that still have (expensive) tags on, so am steeling myself to venture onto eBay again. I listed 7 items last week, 4 sold and 3 paid... so it's better than nothing but it's an uncertain reward for the work involved.
All the best to everyone, reading your stories has really helped.0 -
NPB are a mystery to me, all mine pay immediately, I'd love to know what is different. Buy it Now requires immediate payment so if you are happy with a lowish price and a bit more fee that may work
Just over two thirds of what I have listed has sold, and any clothes that didn't sell at £2-3 are going back on at 99pYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

In the last 18 months I've had about 5 NPB's. which isn't bad really as I've sold nearly 500 things.
The vast majority pay within a couple of hours, if not within 24 hours.
However, I've noticed a growing trend that each week there'll be one really late payer. My auctions finish at the weekends, and most people will have paid by Monday morning.
I've still got one person left to pay from Saturday. I can't post on Thursdays and Fridays due to work commitments, so it's a little frustrating if they don't pay by Wednesday afternoon, otherwise there could be a delay in me posting their item.
The late payers are the only downside, as I really enjoy the whole eBay experience.Early retired - 18th December 2014

ahhhh yes, the non-payers, they happen every now and then. I find if you list buyer requirements with your items as someone else said then this helps, and get anyone with no feedback to message you before they bid (state this in your description)
Whoever said about clearing out their bedside draw, THANK YOU
You inspired me to do mine and guess what I found....? £35 eauros in notes and 1900 czech kroner which means the post office will give me £80 :j
I am going to make a debt payment with it, so so happy! I knew I had the czech money but not the euros, yipeee! :TDon't turn a slip up into a give up

Please help. I am a hoarder There, I've said it. Now how to tackle the problem??
I have managed to [STRIKE]de-clutter[/STRIKE] move around the contents of 6 drawers and 4 cupboards this year so far. Most of the stuff I didn't know what to do with, I just seem to move around from one place to another. I always complain of needing more storage space but i sometimes wonder if I just need to get rid of stuff.
I occasionally have 'clearouts' but that just makes a bit of space that I soon manage to fill again...
Any advice/opinions welcome-thank youGE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hi
I am partly untidy and partly not good of getting rid of stuff.
I have binned a lot of stuff that could not be graced with the term "richard".
I have also started to relocate stuff - so the paint brush and sharpening stone found their way to the tool store this weekend after gracing the chest in the sitting room for some time:o. The two lots of paperclips are now in one place, which means I can store the screws more effectively.
But clearing a ninth square does not always helps because sort stuff creates it own mess in the short-term.
So part of it for me is putting stuff I want and use away in the right places. And part of it is clearing the crap out of the storage places to make room.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Dilemma : my 5.5yr old loves peppa pig. She is getting a bit too old for new peppa pig stuff and the arrival of the bunk beds yesterday saw me removing her peppa pig border from her wall (she is now sharing with 6.5yr old sister who prev shared with the 7.5yr old) they now have a generic border with flowers and butterflies on
The dilemma is this: do I get together all her peppa stuff ie bedding, nightlight, cushion, blanket, wall canvasses and sell it all together or do I hang onto the stuff for a bit coz she still likes peppa even though I'm almost certain she won't use any of it again. My mind is telling me yes but my heart is saying no!No more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -

Wow, she really did love peppe pig.
What I take from that is not to go overboard with the short term decorative stuff.
Can she still use the bedding if she loves it rather than having new and matching?
Does it have to be all or nothing? I am not a parent, but I might start this WItH her, saying, this stuff doesn't go in your new room but I know you like it,...why don't we keep x and x but let the rest go?0
