  • I also nest on the sofa, or in bed when stressed but hadn't realised what I was doing, so thanks for sharing x

On the menagerie front, on behalf of my Dad I add 17 (yes 17!) wooden elephants ranging from an inch or so high to 12 inches high....and 3 hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil monkeys - oh and 2 african tribesman keeping them all in order :rotfl:

I do this! Not quite to the same level by the sounds of it, but I will surround myself with stuff, I think if OH was away for any length of time I would have a proper nest though. I do the same in the bed if OH isn't there.

    I do this too.

    :o

I have been MIA...will you have me back?

I was both in a funk and then I'll last week, and have made no progress on the spare room emptying, though I really will start very soon. Clothes are getting easier to get rid of, not hugely, but a little.
I have been feeling well since the weekend, my chronic health issues seem to be enjoying some lessening:j and I have lost a little weight. It's making clothes decisions easier on one hand, as I feel we'll enough to care a bit more, and harder on the other hand, as something's I thought I might get rid of are actually coming back into play. I have a beautiful silk skirt I was going to give away but now I think it's worth hanging on to, for example, and an as yet unworn maxi dress which was bought for me as one of those horrid gifts where some one says 'you cannot be bigger than this surely'.......um, we'll....yes I can be:o. Anyway, it would feel like a bit of a Victory to get into that.

As for storage solutions, I AM actually going to need two soon. The first is the under stairs cupboard, but causing me more stress is the walk in wardrobe the new bathroom will create for us. I really need to get the maximum out of the space as whatever happens we are still going to have a lot of clothes. I have no idea where to start planning this. :o

    Catching up, animal herd...well flock......

You might all laugh but honestly I don't like things that don't do anything, yet dh and I have somehow amazed several birds, a pair of beautiful jade green book end birds, with evil red eyes, two wooden parrots, which I move around the house to sit in different windows, a china cat that people often think is real, a ghastly pot holding wicker duck that was here when we moved in and waddles back from the bin each time I pop him out for rubbish, and lots more little feathered birds.

The birds started because dh calls me birdy as a pet name.
  • (((Blossomhill))) sorry you've had a dark few days. And it tough when we make the committment tio get rid of stuff when the recipient is so devaluing of our efforts and things.

I have a beautiful ceramic hare to add the mangerie, but he would of course be outclassed by a spanish straw donkey :rotfl:

As for nesting...ahem, I appear to be currently surrounded by so much stuff that extracating myself from my chair without treading on anything or causing a landslide is a work of art. I find it tends to happen when I am over tired' a bit poorly, so things don't get dealt with as quickly as I would like and I don't put stuff away.

LIR - you were awol not MIA so you have to come back:D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • We don't really have anything in the way of wooden animals - but can I add well over 50 Lego minifigures, plus a Lego T-rex (currently in a vase of fake snow, being ridden by Santa - obviously).

Also - sofa nest just got cleared and included a bottle opener I didn't even know I owned - win - been looking for one of these for months!

Finally - managed to get rid of (or at least place in the pile of stuff to go in the bin after it's been emptied) some wraps. I know this is ridiculous, they are well over 9 months out of date, but I've been unable to bin them, despite mouldiness, for all of that time. My rationale has been something along the lines of wanting to see what happened to them as they got old. Writing it down makes it appear utterly mental - why keep definitely out of date food when I know I can't actually eat it?!
  • Are you planning to off load the lego stuff? My son is lego mad, and rather than buy him sets I'm planning to put together bits and access the instruction booklets online so that he can try to use those bits to make the models. Please PM me.
  • Hoping this will make you guys laugh on this dreary night - the remote for our DVD player has been missing for about a year or more, I knew it was in the living room SOMEWHERE but searches hadn't unearthed it. Little DD was messing around with the sofa this evening and pulled one of the back cushions of the sofa off - lo and behold out popped the DVD remote from behind it! Which shows how long it's been since I removed that cushion, plus we're been sat leaning back into it all this time!

Methinks I need to tidy more ;)
"Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."
  • Thanks for all the kind thoughts, I'll get over it, it just seems to have all ganged up for a while - replacement handyman wants £25 an hour - he won't get the work if he asks that, it's more than the sparky charges!

lir I did send out a "where are you" post yesterday but sometimes posts done on my phone just evaporate and I lose the will after battling to overcome the autocorrect nonsenses - glad you are having a good spell

I just wish we could have an hour or two of sunshine with just a little bit of warmth to it as I need to spend some time decluttering the garden before I get down to the spring tasks

I merged two lots of goodies today and gained two empty cupboard shelves - weird when nothing actually got binned from those cupboards

Worktops are staying strangely clearish after so long being hotspots

I've got a couple of charity events coming up so have been throwing stuff into boxes for them, and it will be good to see the back of the boxes. I took one lot last week and the helper went through all the stuff while I was there, asking "are you sure you want to get rid of this, it's really good" and I felt so detached from it all I think I was rather offhand, but I neither wanted it back nor minded her going through it
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow

I'm in a bit of a turmoil at the moment........after receiving a phone call from my sister to say Mum has died. :(

After the initial shock, its dawned on me that the two of us are going to have to empty her 2 bed bungalow, garage and shed. No idea how we're going to find room for the things we cant possibly get rid of - as both our houses already seem packed solid! Looks like I'll have to try and do some ruthless dehoarding here in the next few weeks.
