These people Give and Makeup collect make-up, toiletries and baby stuff which is given to women and children in women's shelters

What a great idea! Thanks for this SueMaggie.

Well done Picklepot! Ugh @ the mouse though, blessed cat!

Thanks for the link, Sue Maggie, I have some stuff I can send. One of my little "there but for the grace of god" good things to do for other people. :)

No decluttering tonight apart from a pizza shared with DD. :D

Yesterday I convinced myself that I am never going to be a small size again so today I have taken three bags of clothes to the cs and am anticipating lots more soon. I have culled my ancient collection of makeup and treated myself to some new foundation with Boots points. I like this feeling! Just hope I can keep it up. Some of the cs things were gifts that I have been keeping, but reading this thread has let me give myself permission to let them go. Thanks everyone.:j

I have two pairs of trousers. One pair is too big, the other pair fits fine but the zip is busted and held up with a safety pin. Yesterday i bought two new pairs of jeans which both fit lovely and are flattering on me (short and fat). I know i need to throw out the trousers but i feel like i cant just yet. I need three pairs of trousers so i have one on, one in wash and one waiting to be worn. But i cant afford another pair just yet. Help!

Repair the zip or throw them out now. If they're not repaired by now, you aren't ever going to do it.

You are not going to wear them or the falling down ones again now you have two pairs that you really like.

Otherwise they're just taking up space.

At times when you are short of money you need to do with slightly less than you actually need - so you should perhaps make do with 2 pairs for now and turnaround the wash a bit faster

    Keeping 2 pairs you can't use isn't a solution

Perhaps you could find a cleaners that would repair the zip for less than the price of a new pair? Clothing alterations are cheap and big business here in London now

Re cosmetics - if you have 2 less than perfect foundations, try combining them
    • I have a good shade but it's matt and shows up my wrinkles
    • I have a shinier one which isn't such a good shade
    • Blended on the back of my hand before applying, with two thirds good shade, one third good tecture they make an almost perfect foundation :)

I read the posts about make up and when i went to bed last night I ended up de-cluttering my make-up so I can give it to charidee, Give and Makeup. I have even convinced my MIL to get hers together and we will combine them in a package for delivery. I feel good bout that, it'll help women who really need a boost and I had so many sets I hadn't even used that were just wasted money (at the time).

Re the trousers, I have had to reduce the number of washes I do, so I wear trousers for 2 days in a row, making them last a bit by wearing an apron (needed as I'm a little messy lol) and hanging them up to air overnight. A pair of trousers should wash and dry within a day, even if you have to hand wash em. Or as posters above have said, repair the broken ones (poss with bits from the too big pair) and then you may not need a third pair.

I'm not complaining, I'm supporting the process of continuous improvement. :p

Stepping off the property ladder for now, may climb back on later.

I've chucked up my college id pass from last year. That had my photo (very unflattering) on it. Normally I would have kept that. What for?

Also the leaflet from blood doning yesterday about my iron levels being too low to give. Normally I would have kept the leaflet after I'd read it. Again, not sure why? I do feel guilty that I can't give this time round, so if anybody here thinks they'll donate when they get a round tuit please can someone give a donation on my behalf....

The piece of furniture has gone to charity exactly on schedule. I am pleased about that.

I am (meant to be) working at the moment so no big decluttering, but again, it's surprising what small amounts are getting done day to day.

DD1 came for lunch today (probably the biggest critic of my hoarding) and commented on how spacious it looked in the living/dining room, which was nice as I've not even been concentrating on that room. However I think that probably had somthing to do with nobody else being here, making it look cluttered;)

Chucked 2 old foot gels that were half used and no idea how old they were...

My wheelie bin is now full, which is very unusual for me...(not just with foot gel though i think I should point out)

Someone asked about 'weightedness' and seratonin. Can't vouch for its accuracy but this site explains a bit more...
