Hoarding - A New Start

SueMaggie, that's absolutley brilliant info, thanks!!! I have a lot of nail polish from a previous obsession and have found great difficulty finding anyone who wants it - even tried a local women's refuge - they never rang me back. This will be perfect as a new home for some of it0

That is great. I wish someone like TESCO, TESCO TESCO, TESCO, TESCO, could have Give and Makeup collection points instore. I'd happily drop off stuff I no longer needed when we pop in to shop. Even if they just did collections for a month twice a year that would be great. I like helping when I can but it's harder at the moment to give money than donate goods.
I am not doing very well on dehoarding at the moment.
Do any of you on her know if Sugar Coated Owl has moved hospitals yet? I have some books I would like to send her. I only know her from here as I can't stand facebook.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

I completely agree - would seem a natural fit for Boots or Superdrug too.0 -
Suemaggie - have you tried asking Tesco? They have a Facebook page and you can chat to CUstomer Services.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

I managed to de-clutter 12 pairs of knickers, 3 went to the rag bag but the rest went in the bin. Still feel guilty bout the other 47 pairs, but 22 are with 11 bras in sets and the rest are for emergencies/end of day baths/to go with bra-tops and basques. I know I don't need more knickers and could cut down, but I know exactly what's stopping me from reducing any further for now.
When I was about 10-12 and in middle school I was one of four kids in a houshold in real poverty. I had just 2 pairs of knickers, one in the wash at any one time and my mum could only afford to wash clothes once a week. This meant I wore 1 pair of knickers a week and we had 2 lots of gym involving communal changing and showers. It didn't help that they were hand-me-downs from my mum and one was orange paisley and the other pair were purple paisley. 2 sessions of hell per week dished out at a time when self-esteem was at an all time low.
Meh, kids can be little !!!!!!.
Also looking at cookbooks, I have put 6 of them on the cs pile and the other 24 are stopping including my Be-Ro book (a new copy of the one my mum has from 1957), The !!!!!!'s Cookboook, no really that is the title (it is an awesome read, not really a cookbook, a lifestyle read with a few recipies in, try Caviar au Sensuel), and the 'How to Feed your Family....' cookbook. I feel hungry lol, but I got a couple of ideas for tea now.
I feel a little better for doing those bits and tomorrow I am going to try and pack away the Xmas decs MIL took down on the 5th as I was unwell and it'll give me a chance to de-clutter and slim the bits as well. Good to know about the makeup collector, will have to go thru mine eventually and knowing it wil go to people in real need will help. I had the fantasy image of me wearing make up and nail polish every day for work when I wear it maybe 3 times a year.
Hugs and mental energy sent to all of you who have none or have run out as I know how it gets when you want to clear stuff and are sat on the floor sobbing that you can't.EJBG2001
I'm not complaining, I'm supporting the process of continuous improvement.
Stepping off the property ladder for now, may climb back on later.0 -
Agree with Catriona re talc. I read much the same and ditched my talc, but I had to find an alternative as I have issues with using deodorant (ultra-sensitive skin) and need something!!
Just wanted to let you know that you can get crystal deodorant from health food shops. they have no chemicals and are completely natural - work by neutralizing the bacteria - and work quite well. They are a bit expensive but last ages
Not done anything yet. Been out of town with work and just got back. DS at his dad's so don't have to make tea. Sat here in fluffy dressing gown and a woolly hat (cos I've got a bit of ear-ache) can't light the fire cos the logs are soaking:mad: Got a couple of bags from the garage, which is twice as expensive as the saw mill I usually get them from, as I had run out and won't have chance to get to saw mill til tomorrow. And they won't burn they're that wet. I'm so annoyed:mad: Have to have electric heater on and rads work from wood burner so the rest of house is flippin freezin'.
Sorry for rant - not really on topic but felt the need to vent!
Waiting for Freegler, not sure what time he's coming - just this eve.
Then off to a friend's where I'll declutter a large picture that she admired. Will go very nice in her newly decorated dining room unlike it's present home on the floor in the hall!! Plus a bag and a half of coal that I've discovered is unsuitable for my fire! It is a multi-fuel but needs smokeless coal and I've been using ordinary housecoal and gummed up the flue:o
Hugs to all, whether you need one or not - I'm in a hug giving kinda mood:)Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

Throw it and wear something that really suits you today, feel good about yourself and proud that you are making progress
Thanks Blossomhill. I should buy one that suits me and not feel guilty about it
JayneC - I'd not thought about Freegle for make-up. I'll remember that for next time but this lippy is taunting me and has to go!0 -
