Bets time to have a baby with respect to schooling

Also try to avoid them sharing a birthday with school friends as they're bound to fall out and/or refuse to have a joint party and you run the risk of guests having to choose which one to go to!
Both of mine have always had joint birthday parties with their school friends. Sometimes even three of them have shared. When you've got 34 children (as in DS's class) with birthdays spread over just six months then you'd be in parties every week if they didn't have joint ones. There's a two week period in October when there's about 9 children in DS's class with birthdays, it's so much easier when they decide to club together and hold two big parties. Not to mention the cost savings to the parents!!

Just to clarify I did have tongue firmly in cheek with my last post! Just a touch of irony at the thought of being able to plan these things lol0

Academic ability is genetic and from nurture
I was born in February and was top of my class all through primary, did just as well in secondary and now have a pretty good career as an Accountant
A boy I went to school with who was oldest in our class, born September, did ok at school, works in the local chip shop. We are early 30s
I wouldn't worry about when your kid is born, worry about being a good parent0 -

I agree - it's not the only factor, it's not even the most important factor. But studies suggest that it does matter, at least a little bit. But only in the early years, so in terms of life potential I guess it's pretty irrelevant. It's just interesting more than anything.
If you think about it, it's not really that surprising. Why shouldn't there be a difference in developmental milestones passed between a child of four and one who's nearly a year older?
The important thing is.. how much does it matter in the long run? It doesn't, is the conclusion."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

My son was born 27th August. The youngest in the year. I recall his first parents' evening when i was told he was immature and flippant. I was so proud. He was JUST 5!!!
He now lives in Singapore and is ultra successful Home life has much more influence than school.0 -
I was born 3 days before the school cut off so was always the youngest in my year but ended up in the top 3 academically in my year.
My brother was born in march and is as thick as 2 short planks lol (his words nots mine) so it really doesn't matter when.
We both have the same parents but are completely different in our abilities.:TIf your happy and you know it clap your hands :T0 -

It's a nightmare trying to get anything decent for their birthday, the shops are full of sale rubbish as all the good stuff went at Christmas. Plus, it's often snowing so organising anything for a party is difficult, we've had to cancel things at the last minute because of the weather.
And definitely don't have a kid whose birthday is 2 days before the January payday!
That'l be me then
Our wee one arrived on the 28th of January. I've found it fab, albeit this is only his 1st birthday but we've got almost everything for it in the sales :j it's been great. Snow, well where I come from, they're not too bad in dealing with it, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Everyone of my family members and OH's have January Birthdays. Between Dec and Jan it's £££££, we'l have to save the whole year for those 2 months
He was supposed to be a February baby but turns out he didn't want to wait! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
And just to add, don't let them be born on 1st of the month. People turn over the calendar and remember they haven't sent a card! (Well my mum does every year)
aims for 2014 - grow more fruit and veg, declutter0
