Florida now require an International Driving Permit since 1 January 2013. Worth keeping an eye in case it is introduced elsewhere

Ok, heres my final update to my holiday, as everything is complete now :) (ok, the part about missing the flight if 1st leg delayed is still on the cards, but will work on that later!)

    Budget: £700 each - 10 nights Flight/Hotel
    Original Booking:
£707 - Flight from Bristol to Amsterdam, Dam to Philly, Philly to Vegas (ballache i know, but at the time was what we could afford, just a shame a week later the prices dropped with Delta from London for a few days before going back up, doh!!!)
That was for the Excalibur hotel for 10 nights, excluding Resort Fee (allowing for £50 each resort fee, so kinda makes a total holiday cost of £757 !!)

Using this thread and contributors/regulars, this the most important thread on MSE :D:D , things changed, for the better.....
New Total (as in total total!) cost is: £716
Flights remain same (KLM, then US-Airways)
    May 22nd - 3 Nights - Mandalay Bay
My short worded email sent today got a result, which was the 'Best rate' deal, resort fee waived, free upgrade to the 600spa suite :D:D:D - total cost: $336 (£216)
    May 25th - 2 Nights - Golden Nugget
Best Rate deal sorted, as of now, free upgrade to Rush Tower :)
    Total cost: $166 (£108)
    May 27th - 5 Nights - Luxor
Room Comp'd due to them ballsing up over this Best Rate deal. Have to pay Resort fee, standard pyramid room - total cost: $104 fee (£66)

So overall, am a happy chappy!!!
Golden Nugget played ball from the start, quick with replies, etc...
The 2 MGM owned resorts = Ballache! But i guess persistance and utilising the moment (email), paid off! :):)
    wooohoooooooooooooooooooo !!!!
    Vegas baby !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D

or for those of you with no kids who LOVE THIS STUFF. :)

we really may try to check it out...
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Thanks to all for a lot of useful information. Going for the first time in 2 weeks and would like to ask for help/advice regarding helicopter tours to the Grand Canyon.

Is it better to book our seats in advance or risk waiting until we get to Vegas and see if there are any good offers?

Found a reasonable deal (imo) with Papillon for $329-$349 each (depending on time of day), including limo pick up, Hoover dam, Canyon landing and picnic, flight along the strip, limo return.

    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks

Check travelzoo. I'm sure I saw a special offer last week. $199 plus tax for the trip you mention.

I've used papillon in the past, I'd book before going but that's not to say you won't find a better deal when you get there.

    EDIT. Here's the link http://www.travelzoo.com/entertainment/las-vegas/-75-amp-up-Vegas-Grand-Canyon-Air-amp-Bus-Tours-Reg-150-1402242/
