I think you changed my mind regarding the Bellagio! Thanks for the tip about lowcostusa... Think I am going to go for Cosmo!
    Thanks so much for advice.

I don't think you will regret it. Unfortunately the Cosmo holds its price and there are rarely offers. However check their website as they do have offers on there.

Also, they used to give International guests free breakfast at the Wicked Spoon buffet, not sure they still do.

The first time we visited the MGM we just stood at the top of the stairs at the entrance opposite NYNY and it was so vast we didn't venture any further. However we found that once we actually stayed there that made it far easier to navigate and I have never been put off with the size of it since.

    .

We spent a lot of time at MGM one trip as we had a lot of friends staying there for an event -and I didn't change my mind so it's probably not the hotel for me -I really like not having to trek to get outside :D

Lots of Cosmo talk, but I can't see the following mentioned so worth a reminder:

Marriott Best Rate / Look No Further Guarantee - as part of the Marriott autograph collection of hotels, you can utilise this to your advantage. Find the same deal, for a cheaper rate and they will match it plus discount an extra 25% - http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotel-prices/best-rate.mi

Marriott Platinum Challenge - Basically, sign up to the challenge and you get given status by default for the following 3 months - this is probably of less interest now that they charge a resort fee (that includes internet access), but in theory you should get free breakfast - i'm not sure how or if this works though - read more towards the end of this article: http://themilesprofessor.com/2013/06/04/marriott-rewards-platinum-challenge-unexpected-bonus/

Also, detail here that someone received the free breakfast, room upgrade (not guaranteed remember!), and was also able to utilise a dedicated platinum checkin desk: http://www.rewards-insiders.marriott.com/thread/6808

On the face of it, I'd say its worth a go as you should get some benefits! :)

    Hope that helps :)

I don't remember seeing this posted before - apologies if it has been - but hubby noticed a free app called Vegas Indoor Maps which seems at first glance to be similar to the maps available here

    http://s427445329.onlinehome.us/casino-property-maps.php

So might be handy...though the maps don't seem to rotate and portait isn't the best layout for them, it could still be useful if turned around in a particular property...I couldn't see it for Android though.

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Just bought this (no idea why it has glasgow in the url).

It's a Wine Walk tour at Town Square. Run by a charity, they have 4 organised - 2 at Town Square and 2 at Lake Las Vegas. Only $17 and includes 20 wine samples as you walk around. Now just to think about where to have brunch or dinner beforehand, and how to get to Town Square (from Venetian, or from wherever we go for brunch or dinner). It starts at 7, so thought about brunch at 330 maybe but go easy on the alcohol and then work our way down there, either by monorail or bus. I have a feeling the bus would take an eternity on the strip in the afternoon, and I'm not sure if the Deuce goes to Town Square. I looked it up but it's a bit unclear.

The Strip and Downtown Express stops at Town Square and would be a lot faster than the Deuce though less pick-up locations.

  • Hi all, it's been a long time since I've been on this thread as it's now nearly 5 years since I went to Vegas for my 21st birthday  Anyway, I'm looking for some suggestions and it's unfortunately for a gift rather than myself!

We have been invited to a work colleague of my other half's wedding next month and they're going to Vegas as part of their honeymoon. As we've been before they have been asking for lots of advice from us and as we have now been invited to their full wedding I thought we could maybe get them a gift for something in Vegas. I don't really know of their definite plans while there so I wouldn't like to get them something for a fixed date/time (ie. tickets to a show) but does anyone have any suggestions for something to get them? Possibly even restaurant vouchers? We would probably spend around £50 on a gift but would be willing to pay a little more for the "right" gift.

If all else fails we'll just give them dollars to do as they please with but I'd really like to get them an experience that would be a bit more original!

The discount ticket booth operation allows you to buy theatre gift vouchers without specifying date or show.

Do you know where they are staying? It's a bit difficult, because as you say you don't want to tie them to something on a certain day. Also if they're not there for long they may have plans for meals too.

I'm not sure if you can buy a gondola voucher, or anything similar and romantic. Eiffel tower tickets. Bit difficult because you don't want to be planning someone's trip for them, unless you already know where they intend to go for dinner and you could get a voucher. Or what about booking them into the lounge at the airport or something like that?

If you could get a Gondola ride voucher $75 for 2 people inside, I think that would be great, but on their website it does say reservations must be made in person
