Oh yeah, one more thing - if you want to do the night tour at Alcatraz, then that will also need to be booked in advance.

Never realised you could do Alcatraz at night. Sounds fab... Do I just book with a tour company, or can you recommend where?

You sound really well travelled and knowledgable, I bet you've experienced some stunning places too.

I appreciate your help. Thankyou again for replying.

Still looking at Zarkana - I have seen the Living Social deal for $69. I'm quite confused by the tax though with such deals. When you buy a groupon or whatever, do you end up having to pay tax when you go to collect your tickets? I'm totally unsure how it works. I know on the $40 for $20 dinner for example you pay tax on $40, but when you have paid in full like for a show ticket, do you then pay tax at the venue? I'm sure I read somewhere that you did.

Smartervegas has a deal on Zarkana saying starting at $60, total price ends up being $71 all in, might go for that. Also unsure what date to choose...I hate choosing a date and making firm plans. I definitely won't choose a weekend night though in case we go for brunch and it may hamper our enjoyment slightly. It is off the first few days of our trip, so we really have to go around the 9th (happens to be my birthday) or 10th or 11th probably.

If anyone knows of a better price let me know. Just looking for cheapest tickets - from experience the cheap ones have ended up being good at Cirque due to the height.

For $2.50 a ticket this might be worth a punt, even if you change your mind...

Use the code VPAPER to get the tickets for $2.50 each...we picked up a couple, just in case we have the evening spare when we get there :)

Well, just got the Pampas offer and Veronic offer in the bag. Thanks for posting.

We haven't done a lot of planning for this trip yet. We have the hotels sorted, but everything else is up on the air yet. I need to get my skates on.

can you help me please just about to book the MGM grand 16th sep to 20th sep 4 nights. the best price I can find on all websites in £261.07 and it says its including all taxes and fees, so 1 im not sure this is correct and 2 if it is..is it still a good price? I have looked on mgm website and theres nothing near the price I can get its only for a petite king which is ample for us. I know people have mentioned they do a deal with buffet passes aswell but I cant find any website which includes these.

I take it that is Lowcostusa?

I would strongly suggest you pay the extra £4 / night and book the Grand Queen instead which will have 2 UK king size beds. They will probably ask you at check in whether you want one or two bed anyway.

The Petite King is the old West Wing rooms. Apart from the fact they haven't been refurbished recently like the rest of the hotel has, the rooms are tiny and with a very small window.

If you can stretch to it, the Executive Queen suite is definitely worth the £20 / night extra as it is huge at 695 sqft which is twice the size of the Petite King.

pebbles, you have had a lot on your plate recently so don't worry about the planning. You can do that once you get there.

    Hope you and Tony OK.

From memory (this is going back a few years), only one company can actually take you to Alcatraz, the rest just take you on a trip round the island (I could be well wrong on this!)

    This is who we used:
    http://www.alcatrazcruises.com/website/pprog-evening-programs.aspx

Can be booked via. website but from memory, only become available at a certain time so its best to just keep checking the website :)

Hi Guys, it's my first time posting. I am so glad I found this forum. Your knowledge is incredible and I know it will help me plan a trip of a lifetime!
Basically, 4 of us are travelling next June 18 2014, to celebrate my 50th, my partner and I are also celebrating 25 years together, and best of all, i am hoping to get married in Vegas ( he doesn't know this yet!) so I need to do lots of planning and prep. Anyway so far I have booked with Delta.com......
18 June..... Manchester via Amsterdam to New York (Newark)
22 June ..... JFK to San Francisco (via Atlanta)
3 July .... Las Vegas via Atlanta to Manchester
    Total = £1386.20 for 2 people! I think that's good!

I've got to sort out Car hire in San Francisco and intend spending a couple of nights there, and then travelling over 2 days or so via Yosemite to Vegas! I'm just so so excited.
Could I just ask anyone, if you were me, what would you do next regards planning? Should I wait til next year etc to look for hotels?
Thanks for any advice ( I will read as much as I can too!)
    Jude x

You are looking about the same dates plus a month that we are -I've done a heap of research on the various wedding options if you want any info just ask either by PM or on here.

Yosemite books up really really early especially as June is US school holidays .
