I just looked up Dollar's fuel policy and it says you have the option of selecting to pay for the fuel at the desk or you can opt to return it full. I suspect this might be another of those 'up sells' where they might have you believe that you have to pay them for their fuel at an inflated price. I need to watch out for this.
Will hopefully get our car booked tomorrow, and need to call the travel insurance to arrange an amendment. Then get on with the minor planning.0 -
I managed to get the car with the fuel Pebbles, thanks. Had to call them though because of the website changing to airport when you select to pay fuel.
All sorted though. It's a full week's hire (£167.85 for a focus plus tank of fuel for anyone who is interested in price), so we will likely use the full tank.
As for the person asking about credit card's - why don't you call the dollar desk and double check. I asked about having to take my card with me when I booked, I booked on my Tesco c/card which I don't use abroad, and he said that no, I could use any credit card at the desk, doesn't have to be that one. Best bet is to check directly with Dollar TI their number is 702-737-1081. Their hours are listed on the dollar site as Mon-Sun 730-5pm, although I suspect they are closed at lunch time...maybe not any more.0 -
Oh, and on the subject of car hire. Don't anyone get caught out parking facing the wrong way like I did in a park in LA last year. Apparently it is a sign you have been driving on the wrong side of the road and that you're intending on doing it again soon. haha.
Not nice paying the fine though, shame I just didn't know about it. Also surprising that no-one told me and plenty of people must have saw me doing it.

You can turn right at a red light unless it says otherwise.
bit cheesy, but here's a good video to explain (well it helped me)

Not recently but as a teenager in the US I got a ticket parking facing the wrong way outside my parent's house on a residential street - they lived on the east side of the street, I arrived from the south and just veered over to park on ''our side' as I was leaving again shortly and my sister was parked on the drive...at that point I had no idea that this was a thing you weren't supposed to do and I hadn't thought about it in years but you're right, since most places in the UK it's more or less a free-for-all parking facing either way on either side, I can see how Brits would get caught out by it.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Tried to get Aria dinner buffet reward from Myvegas, had both mine and OH account to do at same time, managed to get one on one account but put wrong name in and lost it!
I need 2 x 2 buffets as four of us going....oh well will try again tomorrow.0 -

Yes - any credit card. Duchy was asking about using a debit card...0 -
Has anyone brought credits for myVegas? I was thinking it may be worth it when they have a double points offer .I'm going to Las Vegas in a months time, so limited time to collect points. Any last minute tips are very welcome.

as you know there will normally be a sign saying if you cannot turn right on red (or a red arrow for right turn)...plus you'll have the people behind you honking to remind you if you can turn on red.
Anyway I don't bother with lights, I just cut through the gas station forecourts:D
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
