I see what you say. I was thinking outloud really. So the guy in the booth downstairs says "go to that row, that's where the compacts are" but as he can't see where you are heading you just go jump in 300c and at the booth they will just let you go. Think I'll try that one next time. Never realised that they take tips to just tell you to go to a different row, seeing that at the counter they try like heck to get you to upgrade. I have even tried to negotiate a lower fee for an upgrade and been turned down.
i have tried to tip the guys who show you to the rows for an upgrade, every time I hire at LAS with dollar and I have dollar express.
I have failed everytime:(
The idea of driving out in top of range car when booking a lower class is interesting...but like some of you other wimps on here, i am also to scared0 -

Ahh, but I'm not:D
"Oh sorry, I thought I had taken from the family row, not the premium, the guy in the booth just pointed me in that direction"
More likely what would happen is that they would let you out and then charge your credit card for the upgrade:(The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. Re: car booking. Each car has a barcode on the rear window. I suspect a computer based stock management system highlights which car is available and acceptable to take0

We're on a booking mission today!
re: MGM Signature
(and I apologise, I know its been talked about loads before but having no joy with search function)
Which tower is best? It seems Tower 3 is closest to MGM Grand, but i'm aware that each one has different 'facilities' (tho unsure what the differences are)
I'm also aware there are quicker ways to the strip (sure someone said about coming out at Planet Hollywood) - which tower would be best for that?
Don't have long to book it (so trying to do it by the end of the day)
Any information would be really appreciated
Many thanks in advance!
It's Tower 1 that is nearest to MGM and Tower 3 nearest to Harmon and is the newest.
We were in Tower 3. It took about 10-15 minutes to get from the room to the strip from there.
Depending on the time of year, only one of the pools may be open, usually at Tower 1.
The room was nice, but the walk several times a day soon became a bind after more than a day. While we were there we asked to see rooms at the Carriage House on Harmon, which is a 5 minute walk to the strip and the rest as they say, is history. I would choose the CH over the Signature any day.0 -
You're only going to get given free upgrade if there's nothing in your category available. Even then it's likely they'll try to sell you that upgrade before you even know they don't have anything of your category there.
When we arrived at LA last September we went through the usual desk paperwork before going outside. We were then shown to a row of cars. It had a Kia Rio and 3 Dodge Caravan's sitting in it. I said to the guy, so we need to take that one (the Kia Rio)? He said 'no, you can take any of those'. I said the Caravan would be heavy on fuel and he said 'not really', but I took the Kia Rio anyway. It was quite small but I find the Caravan a bit big when not really needed. I did have one a few years ago when there were 6 of us so we needed it. I thought it was a bit of a gas guzzler, although at US prices it's not really bad at all. We used to always book the cheapest car, and always got a Dodge Caliber, however they don't have those anymore and we've had quite a mixture the last few years. We had problems with our brakes last time and they tried to switch us from a Focus to a Fiesta (we had booked a Focus or equivalent) but when I said about the size they gave me a Chevy Impala (?), which was very comfortable if a little bit big.0 -

always got a Dodge Caliber, [\QUOTE]
Boy that was a dump of a car. We had one and had to take it back, it had 40K miles on it and the U/J was trashed. They gave us a Focus and was really impressed. We had a Chrysler 200 last time from T/IThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot.
