  • We've been thinking of booking Presidential's airport web special but are a bit worried that by the time we've got through immigration our hour might already have run out! Does anyone have any experience of using them when flying directly to Vegas?

We're sitting upstairs on our Virgin flight so I understand we'll be the first lot of economy passengers off but I've never actually noted how long it generally takes to get through immigration and in to baggage claim - I just know it seems like ages!

I was hoping to book them to pick us up a bit later than our landing time to be on the safe side but it seems they don't allow you to do that :(

I would suggest calling them, although when I did a few years ago it was a bit of a struggle with the person I got.

Our flight took over half an hour between touch down and reaching the gate last week. We took 35 mins to clear Border Control as we were at the back of the plane. It normally takes about 20 mins.

We used Presidential after a connecting flight. I had "requested" the time to start half an hour after we were due to land. The guy was waiting for us, but I have no idea how long he had been there for.

We asked to go to the Las Vegas sign and to a liquer store and we were dropped off at the hotel 45 mins after leaving the airport.

I would suggest picking up a limo at the airport. They will be the same price or more likely cheaper. There won't be anyone waiting with your name on a sign and no rose or champagne though.

When we were waiting for a taxi yesterday to move hotels, the taxi line guy was offering seats in a limo for $10 a head to the airport. If we had been going to the airport I would have jumped at it.

(despite being a photographer, have always put my holiday first!)

how cool - I did not know that...that was my life's goal from 8 to 18 so I'm pretty jealous of people who actually did it. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • Thanks Luci, I really appreciate your help :)

...absolutely, it's never too late... get yourself a decent entry DSLR and have a play with it, and see where you go!

hey everyone, bit of a tangent question!

does anyone have any links to hi-res/hi-quality (royalty free, maybe) images of Vegas? (best I've found so far are here)

I'm looking at getting a big panoramic print made for my study - so would ideally have a night-time scene involving bellagio fountains, paris caesars, etc. looking north from Cosmo, etc.

Or depending on how big an image I can find, maybe doing a bit of a collage.

I've never really taken many high quality photos while I've been over there (despite being a photographer, have always put my holiday first!)

Let me now what u find

I know its not what you've asked for (hey, I've been slated on here before by posters for not answering what they asked ;) ), but what the hell, I'll stick my neck on the line :D

Could I suggest you perhaps try and put at the most, an hour aside next trip to try and get the perfect picture(s) for you... I promise you'll appreciate it so much more.

We have quite a few (what I would class as good!) pictures of just USA (inc. Vegas) scenery dotted around the house that we've taken ourselves, and they serve as a great reminder of a good holiday. We can place exactly where we were, what we were doing, why we were there, what year it was etc and it makes the picture so much better in my opinion :)

    Just a thought / suggestion :)

PS. Incidently, we never put time aside just for photos - it was just a suggestion to save you lugging around an SLR. I just wander round with my point and click in my pocket but its quite good for what it is and does some super high-res stuff even if the colours etc aren't quite as deep... but that's what softwares for right ;):):D

I agree with this. My son is a professional photographer and capturing your own pictures-there's nothing like it. I'm not into photography at all, but some of the images he concocted from some of the trips, I sometimes wonder if we were on the same holiday, lol.
