unless it's changed the shuttle is a load when you get there and wait until it's ready to go - we haven't taken it in years but when we did we waited ages for it to fill enough to leave...then we stopped at a few hotels first...by that point I was over the shuttle but I am really impatient when we get to our destination - just want to get there and be done with the travel...I can see how some less impatient might enjoy the sights.
there's some info on McCarran's website

Personally I would never book a return - too many people waiting for a shuttle that never turns up.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I also like the Silverton buffet. Which reminds me, I ordered a Las Vegas Advisor recently but it hasn't yet arrived. Hope it comes soon. I think it has a Silverton 2/1 buffet coupon in it.
I was going to order an American Casino Guide, but I think there's more than enough in the LVA.
Another thought, I heard people mentioning the deals for The Palms buffet lately. There are groupon/travelzoo type deals on the buffet, but they're not really great value compared to the buffet price for members. I wonder if I could use the 50% off all purpose coupon for The Palms at the buffet? Or is there a better use for it I wonder?0 -
The 50% comp is best used somewhere else Lesley. Even for the weekend dinner buffet you would use less than half the value if you have a players card.
We used it at Garduno's last year, but that has gone now.0 -
Thanks Pebbles. I was concerned that it wasn't best value using it for that. Can't have me not getting the best deal. :eek:0

Morning all! (am in California now where it's 6.15am)
We've had a lovely start to our hols in Vegas thanks to all the advice on this thread.
We stayed at Flamingo, and I did the $20 trick and we got upgraded from a standard room to a Go! Deluxe, 25th floor with an amazing view of the Bellagio fountains. The wildlife area and pools out the back are lovely. However, the refurb work at Bill's Gambling Hall next door means that there is now construction noise on that side of the hotel too, starting at 6am, and it was enough to wake me even on the 25th floor!
For myvegas players - we've had no probs redeeming credits so far, we've had the champagne brunch at mgm and have picked up Ka! Tickets.0 -
does anyone have any suspicions when the next VA reward seat sale might be?
have now racked up 27560 miles (not that much, as a few bookings have been made during sales, so you only get half the miles) - so would still need to spend £135 on 8000 miles to get the cheapest destination (NYC 35000), it'd be £315 extra to buy miles for Vegas.
but i think in the last sale, it was about 35000ish for Vegas?
I'm not too fussed about spending the miles on upgrades, so would only really spend them on getting a good price on flights.0 -
Remember on top of your miles, you still have £300 or so in taxes to pay.illegitimi non carborundum0

yep - £650-odd flights don't seem worth using the miles for (taxes + buying extra miles)
but if the flights could total at about £450, i think i'd be happy with that
we're due an upgrade at the Vdara, so if i can find a deal on a basic room there, hope to be able to do a total package for 2 for under £15000 -
I really liked the Palms buffet -smaller than most but very good.
As for the shuttle when you come into arrivals just follow the signs. Shuttles and taxis are equal distance -one on each side of the exits.
Once outside you buy a ticket for your chosen company -They all have booths and are the same price and they will then direct you to your shuttle.
As Ferf says there can be a wait -but I've also hopped straight on one and left without any wait. Most I've ever had to wait is 15 minutes (and I've waited longer than that in the taxi line before now at peak times)
Taxi is slightly easier (unless there is a mega line and even then it moves quickly) Unless I've had a desperately horrible flight or I've tickets for that night (not recommended ) for a show I'm happy to get the shuttle and get into the Vegas mood on the way.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
