...anyone witnessed snakes on the Strip? By that I mean a 'performer' with a huge snake to have pics with etc.
Was just about all over during last two weeks, nope, didn't see any snakes.
Actually, didn't see as many " performers " as usual, maybe because its only March.
The one I thought looked quite cool, was the one ( male / female ? ) covered in a mirrored suit with mask by Cosmo.
Perhaps the snakes will turn up now its getting warmer....0 -
Unfortunately yes, we did see someone with a snake on the strip letting people get their photos taken for tips. Hubby says it was on the corner of Harmon and the strip, but it would have been easy enough to give it a wide berth. I thought it was nearer the Hawaiian Marketplace.
We can't remember if it was last year or the year before, but it was in May.
Last time we went it was in June 2011 and they were in front of the Siegfred & Roy Statue at Mirage. There was also a dwarf fella dressed as Elvis there too.
It made it really difficult to get past, so you may want to cross over before you get to that bit.
Didn't see any more further down the Strip, but there were lots of people dressed in costumes doing pictures for tips. It got rather annoying.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

I have the same worries with the snakes. Not last year but the year before (Sept 2011) there was someone with a yellow or white one that particularly freaked me out, somewhere near Planet Ho. Harmon sounds about right to be honest. That said I never saw them last year so maybe they've stopped it. I hope so. Previously we saw one downtown under the light show. I really don't like this, and as much as I'm phobic I also don't think it's right for a wild animal like this to be kept and handled for photos, or as a pet for that matter.
I hope others confirm there's none. I do remember seeing something really weird a few years ago, you won't like this either I suspect. It was always at the bus stop opposite Planet Ho (where we regularly stayed back then, so about 7 years ago). This guy had this funny reptile. I don't know what it was but it sat upright in his arms, was maybe about a foot tall and multi coloured if I'm not imagining this. Kevin can't remember what it was but is saying maybe a komodo dragon but I'm not sure. From memory it was like a mini alligator that sat upright and was brightly coloured. Bear in mind I was a bit terrified so might have been freaking out and imagining half of this!!0 -
I know it has been around quite a while but I only just started playing myVEGAS Slots on Facebbok a couple of days ago. I'm not totally sure how it works, is there any strategy to building chips or is it just luck? I seemed to build up the loyalty points to 800 very quickly the first day then it took forever to get to 900 the next. Also I keep running out of the chips you bet with. Any tips or secrets to gain a lot quickly? Would love to get some freebies for my trip end of April.
I'm pretty new at this too - have been playing for about 4 days or so and at level 35 with 19k LPs (am lucky to be able to run it in the background at work!) The problem I'm having is getting chips to play with as I really don't want non-proper friends on facebook and the facebook groups people talk about are only good for the odd chipshare as they all get snapped up in seconds. Am I missing some other avenues? I've googled and picked up various coupon codes but I'm pretty much just getting the "Ooops you've already had this one" message now... really need more chips!0 -
can't say i've ever seen snakes, but have seen a guy with a huge iguana/lizard thing, certainly last time we were there in September 2012... he was outside the Bellagio fountains one evening and across the street outside Sugar Factory during a daytime.0

I've been playing MyVegas now for 8 weeks.....
I play at home daily, probably works out to be maybe 1hr per day at home (7 days per week!).
But i also leave it playing whilst at work, which can equate to 6 hours a day.....
I am currently level 80, have 146k LP's and as usual, hardly any play chips...
My stratergy.
When your a low level player, say upto 40, your win ratio will be a lot better than when your at level 50. When your above level 58, your win ratio will either suck bad or if u just happen to be 1 of the lucky ones, your win ratio will be high!
Each time you level up, it becomes harder to earn LP's and takes longer to level up again!
Soooooooo, when your building a hotel (collecting the V's), i would say bet the minimum, choose your game, or if in work and want least interaction, play studio city, leave it spinning and collecting....
Once hotel is built, change your bet amount. No fast rule to the bet amount, but i read you should bet 5, 10 or 20 lines per spin pre level 58, and then more lines when higher...
In my case, no matter what i bet, i always lose!! :rotfl:
I've joined groups on facebook, added over 700 friends, all of which get added to the 'restricted' group so they cant see anything of yours..
With these friends, i gift them chips, they gift me... When you get the daily spin, this multiplies your win based on your friend count.. I also click on the links that peeps post to get chips, get promo emails from 'MyVegas', etc etc..
I also have bought around £20 worth of chips (which means i can redeem 4 rewards in 30 days instead of the 3 rewards).
To make this game work for you, you need to play for a few hours per day.... My wife plays, added a few friends, but doesnt play much, she still on level 45 with 50k LP's......
Its a great game if u want to reap the rewards, but takes time to get what u want!
good luck!
p.s. bellagio buffet = lvl 65 and above only!!!0 -
For those of you who have been stateside in the last few months......anyone witnessed snakes on the Strip? By that I mean a 'performer' with a huge snake to have pics with etc.
We've not been for 2 years now and never had this prob thankfully, but just read on TA Forum that it seems to be getting more popular.
I have an absolute ALL CONSUMING fear of them so need to be preparing myself (like, serious anxiety over it)
Thank guys x
Not on the strip although I have heard the like.
I was in town the first couple of weeks of Feb and went out into Lake Mead NP, it was getting towards the mid 70's, there were a lot of signs out warning you not to put your hands into holes! or go into dark shady places, it was getting to the temperature that the rattlesnakes start waking up from hibernation. My middle daughter still has the hump I didn't bring her one back, not even a photo, she's the one who wanted a tarantula for Christmas, butter wouldn't melt in her mouth!!0 -
At Manchester airport Travelodge trying to sleep before our early flight to Vegas tomorrow. It's too early to sleep, but can't be bothered to do anything else. I wish I had a Tardis or one of those transporter things from Star Trek.0

Thanks to everyone who's replied re: snakes on the Strip. Glad that you've taken it seriously as the poor women who posted on TA has absolutely been ripped for it, saddens me as I genuinely share her concern, as clearly others on here do and I think it's a valid question.
Good to know where I stand so I can be prepared - the lizards/iguana/other animals dont bother my in the slightest, it's just anything that wriggles (eels included, worms too!!!) We're staying at Cosmo for first 4 nights and know our way round pretty well so well just avoid some of the key areas - hubby is a well trained spotter these days as he knows the panic that ensues!!
x:staradmin There is no normal, only typical :staradmin0 -
You'd be behind me in the queue for one of those pebbles. I've said that for years, that I could handle long haul if they could "beam me up".
I'm sure you'll manage to pass the time visiting all your forums, unless you have already done that.
Have a great time and hope it is a good flight.
See you and Tony in a few weeks!
Having said that, our diary is filling up fast after having nothing on it until recently.0
