It all depends how strict a veggie you are really. I avoid things like Parmesan, gelatine, red food colouring if it's cochineal (known as red 40 in the US), oyster sauce etc. So, although I've probably accidentally eaten some meat products abroad (or when out at home), I'm pretty careful. I do eat mozzarella though, so I'll take pizza but only if it doesn't have parmesan.

Buffets are pretty good. I usually get a big salad first. My next plate will usually be some pasta, mash, noodles (if I've checked they don't have oyster sauce), veg (at good buffets there is some nicely prepared veg like tenderstem brocolli etc). If I'm still hungry I'll go back and get some more of what I liked. And a pudding - like brownie, chocolate cake or ice cream, but not cheesecake.

There are some other places, there's some Indian restaurants but I haven't tried any of those. Ordinary restaurants will be a bit tricky, for example Mon Ami Gabi, which looks lovely but they just don't serve anything I'd like. There's some really good italian places, like Il Fornaio In NYNY. The Italian in Tropicana however uses chicken stock in all of their tomato sauce so they don't even have vegetarian pizza!! At foodcourts you'll get veggie stuff. My husband loves a place called Fuddruckers - it's a burger bar, but he really likes their veggie burger. It's at The Orleans. Grand Luxe Cafe, and California Pizza Kitchen are also good for veggie options. Fine dining probably won't be an option, we really enjoy the Bellagio or Wynn Buffet (late afternooon on brunch or late lunch prices). We find it quite good value because we just have something for breakfast, then a buffet at 3ish, take our time and eat till 4pm or so and we don't need anything else that day.

If you have any specific types of things you're looking for in terms of type of cuisine let me know and I'll see what I can think of.

Thanks for such a detailed response. We're strict when in control of our diets but tend to let some things like gelatine and cochineal slide when eating out - I used to be super strict but I'm more relaxed now. Wynn definitely try out some of your suggestions

This made me very sad - I hope there is some chance he can try again before he comes home.

Well they've kinda managed to rectify the situation, they are (fingers crossed) on a helicopter flight to West Rim when they return from Utah on Wednesday (back in Vegas just for 1 day/night).

...Not the perfect outcome but at least he will see the Grand Canyon in part.

We managed to see them all on the webcam at the sign yesterday. Very happy hubby as he was supposed to go but then we got Ofsted notification at work so now we are here, in the snow, watching our family enjoy the greatest place on earth!!! Ahhhh well, we're off in July so can't complain too much x

No house and not loaded, on pension credit with a little savings. My two daughters bought the trip as a present for me. The odds are tiny, had bypass surgery in 2003 and no problems since, so the risk is tiny although anything is possible. Going on 18th back on Good Friday so fingers crossed.

You may think the odds are tiny, but so did the man in Benidorm who had a heart attack years after bypass surgery and the insurance almost didn't pay out

I would strongly suggest trying everywhere you can to get insurance. It won't be cheap, but it would be peace of mind.

Try calling https://www.eta.co.uk who do cover PEMcs or https://www.insurepink.co.uk as well as the company linked to at the top of the site.

MyVegas reloads at 7 am PST, which is actually 2 pm here just now because their clocks changed at the weekend.

that's a very good point...I hate when we are out of synch...it confuses me...and means we're arriving an hour later than normal...though we get to depart an hour later than normal too.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

You are lucky (is that right) to live in London, most of us have to put up with shocking over the counter exchange rates

I didn't actually even realise that that sort of rate was only available in London...sorry. :(

Don't know about Vegas, but after a car wreck, my ambulance bill for the trip to hospital was $328.00. So, if you go down you can count on an ride, an IV and a couple of litres of fluid. I've heard anywhere for $800-1300 US for a simple admission to an Emerg unit. Then add in blood work, and ECG and you'll be over 2K before you know it.

    They do take credit cards.

A few pages back I opened a bit of a conversation on the resort fee at the Cosmo on bookings through www.lowcostusa.co.uk

In short and to refresh memories they (lowcost) were adamant that resort fee was included in my booking and they sent a confirmation saying so. The Cosmopolitan on the other hand say that the resort fee applies to all bookings made after Dec 1st 2012 (made mine in early Feb).

I've now received the hotel voucher from Lowcost - the piece of paper I'll be presenting to the front desk - which also clearly states non mandatory resort fee. So I think I'll either have the hotel say, this isn't right but we can see it's not your error so we'll waive the fee. Or, they'll say this isn't right, you have to pay, in which case I'll be claiming back from Lowcost.

I doubt I'm the first to stay there with this problem from a Lowcost booking though and I'm suprised they (lowcost) haven't been advised that they are wrong by now.

Also anyone else as bothered as I am with the currency situation? I'm going to change up cash this week just to try and avoid further falls (usually use fee free debit card).

EDIT - just 13 days to go!

Well, that's annoying! When we booked their terms said they offered three options - resort fee included, no resort fee or non-mandatory resort fee. We booked Vdara with resort fee included - will see what happens when we get our hotel voucher!
