u cant buy excess insurance through a UK agent....

I didn't suggest that you could, but you can buy car hire excess insurance.

It could be that Martin's guide is out of date but it does seem something to at least keep an eye out for.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

holiday autos charge extra , or call it total damage waiver, etc, that means it covers the keys, windows and tyres.......
So same as the other UK agents, no excess :):)
you've misunderstood - they also charge for Standard Damage Excess Waiver - check the website for a US pickup, it defaults to the 'total damage' (windscreen etc), but you can downgrade to standard, or select none at all - its classed as a chargable extra:

holidayautos owned by lastmin group, and generally charge more for US hire, as there market is euro.....
but lastminute.com have their HQ in london http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lastminute.com (They have American 'parents', however that's no different to Dollar (etc))

on UK sites, it usually states no excess... if it doesnt, your on the wrong site!
so we're agreed that you should just check for yourself then ;):D

Sorry Stuie, i'm not arguing, I just dont want people to think its clear-cut, but if they're old enough to book a holiday to Vegas, I'm hoping they're old enough to know how to read up on car insurance ;)

Anyways, I shan't say anymore on it cos car hire T&C's are a bit boring compared to Vegas ;):D

:):) and your right, i just assumed peeps knew it was easier/safer to book with the companies listed above :)

and DE works in vegas, go straight to the mini booth in garage, and depending who u book with, u just email them and ask they link your booking to your DE account..
I did, it works, but on your DE account, it shows the bookings, you just cant click on them...

I've just got off the phone from USrentacar-they've linked my booking :) They have done this before for me, but last year, was the 1st time i've been upgraded.

TBH, I'm more than happy, to just bypass lines. I don't want a monster tank-I could barely see over the steering wheel of the traverse, lol.

For those that have also driven in Orlando-how does the driving compare and how does the
I-15 or whatever it's called compare to the I-4?

    Thanks.

Thanks. We arrive at 2:10pm on a sunday. What should I expect around that time on the roads? Assuming i'm driving off around 4ish? Will it be jam packed getting anywhere? We are staying at the signature. Thanks. I'm slightly apprehensive-and I've got a drive to the GC south rim a few days after :D:eek:

I drive all the time in Vegas because OH has generally had a drink either during the day or the night before and I won't risk it. I had never driven abroad before we went to Vegas the first time 4 years ago (where I drove the vast majority of a road trip from San Fran to Vegas via LA with it's million-lane highways in rush hour!!!ahhhhhhhh!!!) and I can honestly say I believe it is alot easier than driving over here.

I'm always cautious of speed limits and observing other road users (nearly ran a pedestrian over in Monterey after failing to see a pedestrian crossing at a junction!oops).

I personally use Frank Sinatra Drive/Dean Martin drive to aoid the Strip (but thats just hand for us when we stay off-strip). I'm sure others on here will be able to advise as many go more than once a year and drive.

Once you get used to the automatic you'll be fine (presuming you drive a manual in the UK). I nearly put my mother-in-law-to-be through th windscreen by slamming on the break by accident when attempting to accelarate (night before the wedding too so don't think she was too impressed!!):rotfl:

    Don't panic!!!
