it can be hard to believe since so much violent crime has happened on Las Vegas Boulevard South since December starting with a man shooting at police in the parking garage at Circus Circus.
A murder suicide happened a few days later in the lobby of the Excalibur and the day after Christmas, a woman was arrested for cutting another woman while working at the Bellagio.
February was just as violent with two men stabbing a guest at the hotel at Mandalay Bay and three teens shot as they came out of a parking garage elevator near Tropicana Avenue.
I would not want to be head of MGM group security right now.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Going to Vegas in September this year.....but we are currently considering a second trip this year (well in June, so that would actually make September the second one!!).
Considering flying to Phoenix, couple of days maybe Scottsdale, drive to Flagstaff and stay overnight, over to Lake Havasu (London Bridge) overnight at Laughlin, then up to Vegas for 5 nights, then over to San Diego and LA for a further 4 nights.
Any opinions?
More or less did this in october, priceline flagstaff we got Little America for $59,go through total rewards if your a member for laughlin you are almost guaranteed to get comped during the week and get a good weekend rate.Easy drive to the Grand canyon from flagstaff as well0 -
Lesley, go for it. You only have one life so live it. That trip sounds great.0

As for the shootings and violence reported in the past few months in Vegas, doesn't bother me one jot. I am more than unlikely to be wandering the strip in the wee small hours when these things happen and they are usuallly targetted, not random.
I agree, if you have any qualms, stay at home rather than have an anxiety attack.0 -

You still continuing this?
Do you live in a city or large town?
You are aware that these occurrences happen in most large cities and towns around the world.
As I have stated earlier if you are that worried, cancel your trip and transfer it to me, I'll take the risk of going to such a bad knife/gun/murder (in your eyes) ridden city0 -
Just checked my rental period in May and Alamo Brits is a few pounds more than CH3000 and the rental doesnt include a tank of fuel (not that I can see anyway).
CH3000 also promise to be the lowest price so presumably they would beat the price you have paid Alamo Brits
Just rechecked, for us, unticking the free tank option on CH3000 they still came out £80 more on a 14 day rental, and thats without selecting an additional driver option. ( Luxury Cadillac DTS or similar ).
To be fair although there are lots of money off voucher codes available for CH3000 I have never gone far enough into the booking process to apply them, they seem to be post-address details etc. Good point about their price promise, but I'm guessing they won't beat by much, do we know ?
Doesn't seem a powerful enough draw to go through the hassle of price matching, simpler to just go with the lesser rate ( to me ).
Suppose the lesson is it has to be worth everyone checking everywhere as rates will vary by dates, car type, age of driver etc.0 -
OK, I've just checked Usrentacar again. I already have an Alamo /brits booking for 304.00 pounds (sign doesn't work),lol.
On Usrentacar, with thrifty, I can get the same car , an suv for two weeks for 297.00! The thing is, this is good for me as I don't actually need any more drivers.
There's a code knocking about for an extra tenner off. Can someone tell me if i'm allowed to post it here pls. So this could be useful, especially as my Alamo brits is payable on collection, you can prepay, but i like to keep an eye out for better rates.
With the pound playing silly beggars at the moment, It may be better to lock a rate in, but lose the flexibility. USrentacar requires a 50 quid deposit, which is non refundable, unless you pay a tenner for cancellation/amendment insurance.:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
with CH3000. if you pay in full and cancel without penalty up to 2 days before the start...as photome says they also price match though not sure they would match the price you have found after the code is applied - I have never tried price matching with them but know others have) and will reduce your price if it comes down (I have done this and had a refund for the difference)...
from the T&Cs on my current reservation
CANCELLING RESERVATIONS FULLY PAID FOR AT THE TIME OF BOOKING: Can be cancelled online free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the rental. Reservations cancelled within 48 hours of the start of the rental will be charged a fee equal to a 3 day rental. There will be no refund or additional charge for reservations less than 3 days in duration. Where the vehicle cannot be picked up due to insufficient documentation or failure to provide a valid credit card this will be treated as a cancellation made within 48 hours provided we are advised at the pick-up time.
If you only pay a deposit, not the full rental fee, then cancelling does have a penalty of the deposit amount.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Thanks Ferf. I have not looked into that company. Since i booked the car last october, i haven't really looked into this since. I will look around now, as with the $ rate plummeting, it all help, lol.:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0

Also, during the week, there's usually someone wandering around inside Mandalay Bay handing out '2 for 1' drinks vouchers for Mix Bar - worth keeping your eyes peeled
edit: doh - just seen JayTay's response!0
