Has anyone had any good prices for car hire recently? I have tried the usual sites (inc ones from page 1 of this thread). We are going 7th-21st July and will pick up a car from the airport for the full 2 weeks (Ford Focus or similar, don't want a really diddy one but had a Jeep last year and it was unnecessarily large for the 2 of us).

I'm getting the best price from EconomyCarHire.co.uk (£279 inc. additional driver) - has anyone used it??? Am nervous as we've always used Carhire3000 before and always been fine but dearer than others this year.

Have you tried Alamo/brits. It offers up to 3 additional drivers for free and 10% discount. Even though I don't need any other driver, they came out cheapest for me for August.

try https://www.netflights.co.uk comes up with the cheapest rate and you can see which company offers you what for your money. (alamo worked out cheapest for us)

Thanks for this. The day before my birthday is $47.00. My birthday, 132.00 in true MSE style, I think we'll stay the day before :D Would I lose access to the pool upon check out time? Also, is it one person per room key, in the pool? It's just that it will be me and a 20,16,14 and 5 year old. Thanks.

    Hi All
I've been lurking on the Vegas threads for 14 months now and finally found time to join the forum.

I want to thank everyone for their great recommendations + money saving tips. You've saved me hundreds of pounds on my 2 trips to Vegas and given some excellent recommendations on hotels, food etc.

For both trips I have stayed at Ballys, part of Caesars group. I also stayed at Travelodge Ambassador Strip, Excalibur and Hostel Cat.

I was particularly impressed with my last visit to Ballys as I received a complimentary upgrade to deluxe room.

So, was disappointed to hear the news about Caesars Group bringing in a resort fee and sent them a message with my feedback.

This is the response I received today.
If you feel the same way as me I urge you to do the same!

Oh, and here's a small tip from me that I'm not sure has been posted before... If you ride the RTC buses, buy your 24 hour passes OFF STRIP. They are only $5 (compared to around $8 on strip) and you don't actually have to board the bus to buy one :)

    Dear ***
Thank you for contacting Bally's Las Vegas. I was sorry to hear of your disappointment with our decision to implement a Resort Fee. We certainly do appreciate feedback from our guests, whether the comments are positive or negative, as it is our best gauge of measuring the success of our service and accommodations. Bally's takes great pride in the excellent service and products we provide for our guests and your feedback is a valuable tool in helping us do that to the best of our ability.

We are responding to our guests increasing demand for the packaging amenities and services for one flat fee. We are aggressively upgrading our resorts with new room features, resort amenities, restaurants and technology. Our ultimate goal is to always insure that we are providing the very best guest experience in Las Vegas. We have spent the past few years analyzing what our guests are choosing to use while visiting our properties, and we have determined that by bundling a few of these services it is in the best interest of our guests. It provides them with the ability to utilize our most popular features and amenities without the inconvenience of multiple charges.

***, we read every comment and listen to what our customers are saying. We may or may not be able to act on all the comments and suggestions; however, we will forward your thoughts to our Management for their consideration in future business decisions.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact us. We hope you will give us another chance to serve you again in the near future. I am confident that your next experience visiting us will be enjoyable.

    Best wishes,

    Your Question02/21/2013 05:34 PMDear Sirs

I've just heard that you're about to start charging Resort Fees on your properties.

I have visited the USA twice and stayed at Bally's both times. My reason for choosing Bally's was the fact that no Resort Fee was charged.

I have been very happy with both of my stays.

I will be disappointed if you start to charge a Resort Fee and it will definitely put me off booking with you for future trips, including the one I'm planning for the end of March.

    Yours Sincerely

I thought you could only use the $5 passes for residential travel - so no SDX or Deuce?

And this is always the argument for resort fees.

they always ignore the fact that some guests won't use any of the services so would clearly not have the inconvenience of multiple charges...for us it really isn't that bad because we do use internet - though historically have not paid every day...but at least we will get some value out of it vs. paying for internet separately.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Ferf, you are right about the $5 pass. It is not valid on the Deuce and SDX.

If you have local ID, the $5 pass is valid on all routes, but us tourists are charged an extra fee.

    The shooting the other day

It seems the driver of the Maserati who was killed was a coming rapper and a pimp, who bragged about keeping a gun in his car so maybe not a random shooting.

The incident started at the Aria

the taxi victims were obviously innocent and it is terribly sad

is it because your birthday falls on a weekend? no you wouldn't lose access to the pool on checkout time, as long as you have your room key you'll be fine. just don't return it on check out, they won't do anything/ask for it back. (or you could give one keycard back on checkout) (i kept my last GN keycard for memorabilia pourpouses)

it usually is one person per keycard in the pool area however families are a different case altogether. get 4 keycards on check-in then if one of your kids wants to go elsewhere they have a keycard they can give to each other without you have to get up and escort them. if you're not going on a weekend it's very relaxed and once they recongise you you probably won't even have to show it.
