I also felt bitter towards my mother as she always made us feel like a poor family yet when i think back they were both working and now I know she had the money but we lived on jumble sale clothes, had no holidays etc.I am not saying we were unhappy as mostly I had a great childhood but the thought of being poor and second class took a long time to get over.Sorry to rant on,all i really want to say is def yes topink candle:)
Rosemary - I completely get what you mean here, my Dad had a very good job and my mum worked part time but they always said they had no money for holidays, days out, clothes etc. They paid their mortgate off years and years early, had loads of policys which they kept paying into and cashing in, a brand new car but me and my sister never had nice things. Now they have loads in the bank, good pensions and don't do anything fun with it. It will come to us in the end but my sister and me resent having had to live like that as children.
Worst thing is mum is proud of how much money she has now and the fact that she never had any money at any other time in her life - she can't understand that they never had any cash because they had banked it all.

Wow, I'm getting better, had an email from LIB about a new box, reading the description I thought this will be hard to resist, but I had a look on line and read through the contents and it didn't really appeal at all. So thats another LIB box I'm not buying.0

Hi everyone, have a couple of UU to report.
Tigi Extreme Volume Shampoo and Conditioner - These were the salon sizes and did last a while. Probably would buy them again. Have moved on to some John Frieda Brilliant Brunette that my mum bought me for some reason!
Oral B Brilliant White Enamel Care toothpaste - WBA and already have.
L'Oreal Voluminous mascara - WNBA, I think they've changed the formula, it flakes on me now where as before it didn't. Have moved on to L'Oreal Telescopic false lash effect, it's pretty good so far.
Have been a bit absent because work is so busy, things with OH are up in the air and to top it all I've got a stinking cold now! Just what I need. Will try and catch up with everything!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Second one is a body butter (fanfare!) My favourite kind of UU as I still have so many and they seem such slow progress! I actually really like this one - S & G Butter Up - WBA - in a blue tube as out of the Spa range so not as sickly sweet as some of the pink items. This is a dry skin formula and my skin drinks it in, particularly on my shins where the skin is always dry unless I religiously moisturise (which I'm not terribly great at...). I love that its not at all sticky, which is my pet hate for a lot of body lotiohs and butters - I've also used this as foot and hand cream and its fab. Actually quite glad I've another tube in the stash. A pot would have been a better design as had to cut open when loads left but that was no hassle as easily done.
Off to Manchester to see Paloma Faith later, very excited! :j
I love the S&G spa range though I haven't bought any of their body butters for ages as TBS are always having offers on and I tend to stock up on their body butters.
Hope you enjoyed Paloma Faith. Were you at the MEN? Emma is there on Sunday to watch X Factor tour.wondercollie wrote: »It's so cold now that my feet are drying out. And we moan about the cold weather here! Take care and wrap up warm wondercollie.x
I have 2 more UUs:-
LE Nourishing Body Cream (full size). WBA. Love this body lotion however off the top of my head know I have 2 x full sized TBS body butters, pack of 5 Boots Extracts 50ml body butters, 2 x Elemis Frangipani Monoi Melt oil and the Evening Blooms body oil in the stash. I have however opened a 50ml pot of Boots Extracts Bergamot body butter this am. Smells of cucumber.
Mark Hill Straightening shampoo (small size). This came in one of the kits I bought in the Boots sale on New Years Eve so it has lasted about a month. Probably would buy again if I ever see the full sizes on special offer. I especially like the straightening serum in his range.
Have a few more splutterers waiting to end. Off the top of my head these are :-
Benefit Lemon Aid - I am now running my concealer brush around the rim of the pot to pick up the last bits. Have asked for a pot for my birthday in Feb.
Holland & Barrett Aloe Vera Gel. I am now applying this to my hands and it is soothing them. Have another one which I've brought to work with me.
Laura Geller Spcakle. When this is gone I'm going to use my BB Cream in its place but then will probably repurchase Spackle.
Cutex nail polish remover. There is only a teeny bit of this left in the bottle and I'm thinking of repainting my nails tonight so it may be another UU today although we are out at the Trafford Centre for tea at Las Iguanas tonight so depends how I feel when we get back.
Hope everyone is feeling ok. Roguelawyer hope you have had a better day today.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

UU the S & G Butter Up body butter from the blue spa range that I thought I would yesterday. WBA (not that I ever need to buy body butters again, this is the worst area of my stash) even though I had to cut it open very early on. It has a lovely smell and is rich but sinks in very quickly and doesn't leave me feeling sticky like a lot of body butters do.0

I'm going to follow that idea this year
it is the pink candle thing again!!
Now candles...well, I never save any for decoration purposes only, no matter how fancy it is. I just love burning candles:)
Looking for a bit of advice, - we're running low on handwash both in the kitchen and bathroom. Could I use shower gel/bubble bath in the dispensers instead? Would I need to dilute them, esp bubble bath, so they're not as harsh or are liquid soap, shower gel and bubble bath all essentially the same thing in different bottles? I was wondering whether using bubble bath in particular might be too harsh to use directly onto hands.
I know it sounds a stooopid question to ask as you use shower gel direct to skin but when I cook I'm forever washing my hands, didn't know whether using 4 or 5 times in quick succession might not be so good for skin.
Enough of my rabbitting, I feel silly now0 -
Just wondering what foundations people use (if any)? I can't seem to find a foundation to suit my skin. I have mild acne so I feel that foundation is an essential for me, although I don't wear when I am just around the house as I am aware that it could also contribute to my acne.
I am currently using Boots No 7 Beautifully Matte foundation (which is for normal/oily skin and says it provides medium/full coverage). I bought this when Boots were doing a promotion around matching your foundation. I do quite like it but I'm not blown away.
In the past I have used Clinique Anti-Blemish solutions foundation and Garnier BB Cream for combination to oily skin. Again I felt these products were ok but I am still yet to find my HG!
Thoughts appreciated!!
I have been impressed by Max Factor Facefinity Compact. I am also prone to acne and also a very shiny nose and this is really matte when you put it on so I don't even need powder over the top.
I bought mine in the summer when I went away and forgot my foundation !! It was about £11 which was about the cheapest foundation I could find in the make up displays at Boots, I was shocked how expensive make up has gotten while I have been doing this challenge! I will definitely buy again when I have finished mine (perhaps even before I have got through the rest of the foundation stash!)
Hope this helpswondercollie wrote: »UU:
15 count face wipes from Balea. Have roughly a 90 more from this company in the stash, so I will be using again. Honestly, the only face wipes I will never buy again are the Olay ones, nasty smell!

Okay wondercollie, we'll stop moaning about snow over here! :rotfl:

Don't feel silly, it's exactly the kind of question we like on the toiletries thread
In my personal opinion, liquid soap, shower gel and bath stuff are all essentially the same things in different bottles. I use shower gels I don't like very much in my hand soap dispenser and haven't come to any harm. I know others specifically buy the value bubble bath from the supermarket to fill up their soap dispensers with because it is much cheaper.
I would recommend trying a shower gel if you have a spare (or two) in the stash and then if you do get a reaction or it seems more drying to your hands you can buy another handwash.
It is the only hope I have for using up my mammoth shower gel stash (cough, 8 litres, cough) so I will carry on!No more buying unnecessary toiletries 2018
