All my splutters are hanging on atm, but I have a few bits cut open so should be anytime soon! Oh but I did have 1 UU BS mango body butter, I'm sure this was a magazine freebies ages and ages ago, on first sniff I thought yum but actually after apply it was too much, had to restrict it to before bed use only. Glad to be rid of it so WNBA but now onto BS vit e body butter and thankfully this is the the last BS body butter in my stash, I do like them but had a bit of a BS body butter overkill and want to use something else for a bit.

Although I nearly caved and got sucked into the BS 40% off sale, filled a basket but then realised I dont really need it and it will be on sale again next month etc so closed window. Also havent bought anything from Boots sale - which is mostly because everything was sold out online but still! I need to pop into Bs at the weekend (weather permitting) but I doubt there will be anything to catch my eye.

L'Occitane on TSV soon! Eeeps! I'm currently awaiting an order I placed with them direct, cant exactly remember how many ins it will be but some will be sent off to my mum so we'll see. I might have to get the TSV as a birthday present if it's amazing!

Need to keep remembering to apply lip balm as being inside and with heating on or going outside is making them so dry! Hope everyone is staying warm in the bad weather! x

  • I'm joining in. Have so many bottles, pots & tubes I think I could open up my own Boots.
I opened one drawer & counted no less than 40 lipsticks!!! Some were used, some not but some of them were triplicates (naughty girl!!)
I'm having a mass clear out of house, mind, body & heart after a traumatic 2012 & all of a sudden I have an instant dislike to clutter. All my life I've lived like a hoarder & save it up for a rainy day treat but by the time my rainy day comes its gone off :( & to top it all off all those 'feel-good' purchases have left me in my mid thirties with debts, severe clinical depression, no home, 2 children to support & a husband facing a prison sentence!:eek:
Master plan for me is to use up my creams etc to make some feel good moments to help with the depression & therefore help with my future & my debts.
I'm hoping to create a master list tomorrow to see how lavish I've been with borrowed money, will probably take ages!
Does anybody know how long makeup lasts before its unsafe to use. I know mascara has the pop test but what about eye shadows, lipsticks etc?

Welcome to the thread! Sorry to hear you've had a horrible year, hopefully this year will be better for you :) We're all quite chatty on here so you might find about 3 pages worth to read up on each visit :rotfl: As for ALL that make-up etc, if you find the ebay prices are too low for you, how about gifting some to friends for birthdays? If you have enough you could make up little sets and give them as presents, that might also help with the money situation and helps de-clutter at the same time! Especially if you have more expensive items which goes for pence, you could give to a friend and it won't cost you anything extra :)

If you would prefer not to do either, how about getting some friends round and doing a toiletries swap like this thread is doing on facebook? Or maybe tell your friends you want to sell them, (new unopened items) and maybe they'll buy some bits off you and help you both out?

I hope some of my suggestions help, and hope you enjoy the challenge!
  • Welcome Gemini

I've just had a make up clearout and had to be firm with myself. Some things already had the open pot symbol on so I knew to chuck those out. I was surprised that liquid eyeliner only lasts a few months so I'll just stick to black now. I threw away some lipglosses and lipsticks - I think they vary form 6 months to 12 months. I think there are some guidelines if you google them.

I think there are a few things I'll hang onto past their best before/ use by date such as some lippies, eye liners and my huge collection of glitter eyeliners. I can't afford to replace them and I love 'em!

Thanks for the foot cream tip, I'm about to get some softer feet soon! I don't use any foot products so far so my feet won't know what's hit them!

I love how friendly this thread is, I signed up almost a year ago and have really felt like we are all here to empower each other to get through our stash and get into a better place mentally and financially.
I know that I have changed a great deal in how I look at toiletries and beauty products now. Before it was a total hoarders mentality and now it's all about treating myself and living in the present. I have cracked into all my limited edition products and I even was telling one of my staff members that it's about the present and how she should use her products as you never know what tomorrow may bring. I take a lovely bath everyday, use all my treatment products, like I said..cracked into all my limited edition palettes and I am truely enjoying what I have instead of dwelling on what I don't have :)

    Happy tuesday everyone!

    Today's UU:
Lush hair mask - what a difference this hair mask has done for me in the last month. I feel so confident about my hair now.

I counted today and I currently have 67 OUTs due to swaps and friends goodie bags :) Will update once I finish all the outs, it feels AMAZING to de-clutter and get my stash organised again. I went through a bad period at my previous job where I wasn't happy and i could feel myself hoarding onto things that I know I would never use, but now that I'm much happier I can de-clutter again and start 2013 with a bang!

A UU to report - conditioner from B00ts, I hink it's their attempt at "herbal essences" Had it a while, bought it when I couldn't afford branded. Wasn't the best but did the job

Trying to UU a Harding & Bayliss body butter but the tub seems bottomless :)

I am also loving how friendly this thread is! I love hearing about products that other people are using and getting some recommendations about future buys! It is also a great place to support each other. I love the ideas about swaps etc. and I am also feeling inspired to use those products that I was keeping for 'best'. Like tokkiandoliver says, I think it's important to live in the present and treat ourselves now otherwise we will never use those extra special products and get to enjoy them!

Currently making a list of my stash and enjoying finding things that I forgot I had

When I cleared out my mum's house after she died last year one of the depressing things was seeing all the cheap products in the bathroom and all the luxury products in her cupboard. She'd been saving them for when she retired and would have more time to pamper herself and socialise. Since seeing that I have changed the way I look at these things as I used to do the same.
