No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in January 2013

One TA to report - a rather elderly Olay total effects touch of foundation which has dried up. I WBA as even the fairest shade was a bit too dark for my skin.
My dehydrated skin has already completely drunk up one coat of skin oil so have put another one on. It's not looking quite so much like the nectarines in my fruit bowl that I chucked out this morning, but I think it's going to need some extra TLC for a while.
I was checking through my liquid foundations / tinted moisturisers as an alternative to my mineral make up to help get extra moisture in and that's when I found the Olay.0 -

- Jo Malone Red Roses Cologne. WIBA? Yes, I really love the smell of this. However, I have another bottle that's about a quarter full not to mention a large perfume stash in general so I won't right now.
- CCS Heel Balm. WIBA? Maybe, it's ok but it's not a luxe choice. I have some more foot creams in the stash, at the moment my favourite is the L'Occitane one, but I won't need to buy a new one for some time anyway, and reckon I can UU some body butters on my feet too. (I have a LOT of body butters!).
Anyone else finding the cold weather is playing havoc with their skin? Mine has gone horribly dry all of a sudden but worse than that it just looks a bit saggy. Did a facial this morning and afterwards put some of the Sanctuary face oil on which I would usually save for bed time, hoping it will help plump out my face again. It's the first time I've seen it with that look that fruit like peaches get when the fruit has turned soft and the skin has started to wrinkle.:o
My skin is feeling very dry and tight at the moment too, I am using Oilatum Natural Repair Cream to try and ease it but even that is being absorbed really quickly. I don't even have dry skin either.
Rosemary - hope you are feeling
Rogueylawyer - hope your cocktails cheered you up.
Re the tangled hair, my daughter gets a big knot at the base of her neck caused by turning her head. The tangle teasers only scratch the surface so don't really help. I find wearing it up the only help (or a neck brace).Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Combination of the cold and mineral make up is drying out my skin too. I've been using Dr Hauschka Rose Cream as it's a heavier cream and it seems to keep my skin soft during the day.I love the staying power of mineral make up but I think I'm also going to have to switch back to a liquid foundation for a wee while. Never mind, at least it means trying out some Liz Earle foundation samples. Clouds and silver linings and all that stuff!!No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.0

Mine is usually a little bit dry in patches but I've never seen it looking as old as it did this morning. Suspect it might be something to do with dozing off in front of the TV with the fan heater on last night, that can't be good for it. Will have to practice putting more layers on instead.
I'm up to my third coat of facial oil on my forehead this morning and it's starting to feel a bit more dewy than papery.0 -
Hurrah, an out!
I have thrown away an avon shimmering body lotion because it just SAT on the skin- bizzarre.0 -
Hope everyone is warm! I'm still in my pjs with a dressing gown and sleeping bag on the sofa! If you run your fingers over eyebrows, down outside of eyes and then in towards nose you will feel the ring of bone around the eye sockets, if no explicit instuctions on product this is the safe way, (as someone (sorry not sure who) said earlier, the product should find it's way to moisturise the area needed. Work from inside eye to outside, it is supposed to help drainage and lessen eye bags. HTH:D
Thanks for this, I've only ever applied it to underneath my eye so good to know! I must admit I had to Google whether to put it on before or after moisturiser too, general consensus seemed to be afterDare I ask, what is LIB? Not sure I want to know as I will then be tempted myself!
I see you have the answer now, I hope I haven't enabled you too much!! Great site though and a good way of trying out new products cheaply...0 -

My face is ok as I apply oil as well as moisturiser at the moment although I've getting a couple of milia which I suspect is from the Elemis clenaser. Am trying to apply smaller doses as the "prescribed" amount that comes out with each pump is too rich.
My hands however are suffering badly. Applied and re-applied oil to my hands last night and sat with cotton gloves on to try and heal them.
May have another UU today. The LE handwash in the bathroom is spluttering. Have a new love for this product since I took a small tube of it into work this week. It's really soothing my hands and I think this could be what cured the soreness. Have another small tube in stash which I'll keep to take to work with me again. I'll replace the one in the bathroom with the Champneys set I got from Boots. I'll buy more liquid soap once the one in the kitchen has gone and I think then it will be a toss up between L'Occitane and LE.
On the subject of LE there is a TSV next Sunday. There is a link here if anyone is interested (not that I'm enabling as I won't be buying it. I don't use any of her treatment products). http://www.qvcuk.com/qvc.product.202281.html. That will be the first fiver in my pot re: TSVs I've avoided.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!
