No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in January 2013

Well done, I didn't
but will report my stash later.
Can't believe the shoppers though sweeping items off the shelf and rather scary
I did get some bargains last year, but I didn't enjoy the experience at all. When I went there were a couple of pairs there. One parked the trolley next to the shelf and as you say just swept everything off the shelf into the trolley and the other stopped other people getting near. I wonder if they were ebayers just because of the sheer amount of stuff they were buying. I hate people who spoil what could have been a fun girly experience.0 -
Its a bit of both really, when I started the challenge I had around 230 items all told (as I kept finding things after I'd made the original list - it really was a stash in many ways!). A lot of these although maybe full size were already opened and part used which made them quicker UU, other things were minis or single use like bath bombs. I've TA a few things which had either gone off or were really horrid and I couldn't think anyone else would want them! I've also GA quite a bit to friends and family.
I did find that my UU really started to slow down at the end of the year but got more minis for Christmas and in sales so January has picked back up a bit. I hope to graduate in a fashion at some point this year.
You'll be surprised how quickly the UU rack up.
I suppose so. On the figures I should be able to use up a similar number of products, but as I've used up many of the open items now I think the progress will slow. I good third of my stash is made up of makeup however and that takes forever to use up!Well done, that's brilliant, you must be so pleased! :T
I am really pleased, and am continuing to make a payment a day to chip away at the rest. It's going to be a long haul until Xmas to get it paid, with so many events over this year and setting up the new house. I am keen to use this philosophy in a lot of different areas though; candles, cleaning products, food and drink. Use up, enjoy and only replace when necessary.0 -
I love this book too, made the skinny lasagne at the weekend, it was delicious! And thanks for the recommendation for the ww thread, I was wondering if there was one on here, I'll look that up. I went to the gym three times last week so I'm getting there, just got to start being a little more careful with what I eat, I've been gradually scaling back since Christmas, didn't think I could cope with 'cold turkey' no pun intended
Well done on the weight loss :T
MrM is cooking loads from the book. We've now had the cod and prawn gratin and the masala chicken. He's making the steak recipe on Saturday. For my part I've made the granola, compote and muesli. All lovely dishes.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I'm close to sinning....... Nails inc TSV, on AD too!!!!
Oh my, I really, really want to be strong, but that leather look polish......:o
Must not watch any more Q today.
I will try my best, but promisses cannot be made. I'm hoping that posting on here will give me the strength to keep away for the phone/web.
Oh dear. Did you resist still in the end? Nails Inc is a brand that I really don't rate so I didn't even bother to watch any of the demos.I too was tempted, but seeing as I have not polished my nails for 6 weeks and I own in excess of 300 polishes, I managed to refrain:rotfl::rotfl:
You could try what I do sometimes if the whole collections seem a step too far and I want 1 or 2 particular polishes; note the names and plug them into an e-bay search, there will almost certainly be some up for grabs as people take delivery and sell on the ones they do not want.
I do this with Leighton Denny kits as I never like all the colours, just the odd one or two but can't manage it when it's OPI TSV time.
On that subject I have a very sad UU to report. I think I'm at the end of my mini bottle of OPI Nein Nein Nein OK Fine. Was applying it on Monday night and it was at one time hard to get out of the bottle but then when I got product out it was gloopy. I took it all off. Am watching one on Ebay!
Have repainted my nails tonight and am now wearing OPI Royal Rajah Ruby.rogueylawyer wrote: »:j:j I have another UU.
Body shop earth lovers lemon and thyme shower gel 250ml
WIBA? Whilst I appreciate the biodegradable nature of the shower gel and that it isn't tested on animals I found the product was fairly thin and took a lot to lather. I tend to find body shop products smell great to begin with and then I must become used to them quickly! don't think I would buy again, but I have an alternative scent of this product in the stash still to use.
I've used this product before and also the fragrance free version and like you was not impressed with them.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Hello everyone!
Terrible week for me so far.
IN's:
Dior blush tender coral
Chanel eyeliner brush
I've been doing well going through my bath products but having a hard time getting through my makeup stash.
I will say that I've been really good this year (yes I know we are only a couple of weeks into 2013 lol), I've been putting money away for our cruise fund and buying things I need like new clothes vs. nail polish and other beauty products.
I did manage to stay away from the Boots sale thobig deal for me!

I have just realised I have been doing this challenge for three months today. In that time I have used up 80 items and saved £163, saving £2 for ever UU at the end of the month and putting money in the pot to avoid my spending on special offers.
I'm also paying off my credit card as part of the 'pay off all your debt by Xmas 2013' challenge.
As I've looked at my stash and am determined to avoid any toiletries Ins for 100 days, I decided to use my toiletries slush fund to make another payment to the credit card.
I am therefore 15 days in to my challenge to clear my debt and am 25% there!! 4% has come directly from this challenge, but a lot more has come from my stopping buying unnecessary toiletries. I used to spend £30 in Boots on an average weekend, and instead I've spent less than £100 in 3 months!
Happy dance!
Well done on your achievement.his_missus wrote: »I popped into b00ts at lunchtime and there was just one small shelving unit in the sale, had been the 50% sale line last week, nothing left really apart from England slippers, grow your own herbs and some strange robot ragdolly things.
I looked online this morning but the site was going so slow that I thought I'd look when I got to work. By then what I wanted had sold out. Went into the little one local to work and the shelves were bare!
I was going to get another one of the Champneys hand wash and lotion sets for work. My hands are so dry and sore at the moment. The only thing I can put it down to is the soap at work which is a liquid one in a dispenser attached to the wall so I have no idea what product it is. Took a small tube of LE hand wash in today and felt some comfort after using it. Must apply lotion and put my gloves on for bed.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I know this is exactly what was happening today grr I'm not normally intimidated by shoppers but I was today, groups of 2 or 3 with baskets piled sky high, plus the big Boots bags and stuff on the floor they were counting out. Then heard them talking to other people in the store they were heading to other Boots stores. It was quite horribleLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0
