I didn't say it wasn't stressful going to work. I do know that, i worked in a nursery and as a nanny leaving at 7.00 and home at 7.00.
If i could work i would, but i have been told i can't but will hopefully be back. I hate not working but my health is more important at the moment.
Oh, and yes i am a single parent. Let's wait for the attack on that!!0 -

When i went into M&S i refused to go to one of the 'self service' tills as they are causing people to lose their jobs. This was told by the lady at the till who thanked me for going to her! More and more shops are doing this. When i was at school years ago it was easy to get a saturday job, that is not the case now! My son is trying desperately to find a job while doing A levels but can't.
I am on benefits as i have serious mental health issues but i am hoping that at some point i can try and get back to work. I worked all my life and don't like living on benefits.
A benefit shake up is a good thing but will cause a lot of stress!!
Companies need to become more efficient and reduce costs and overheads so they can provide goods at a cheaper cost. That way what you spend on your groceries does not go sky high every year. If that means automating the tills so that they get a machine to do the job instead of a droid mindlessly doing the scanning then so be it. This kind of automation has been going on for decades. Workers tend to then get some other job which machines cannot do. Your attitude is bizarre. Most people tend to go on benefits and are amazed at how easy it is to get dosh handed out without doing any work and just get addicted to this life style. The usual excuse is then, there are no jobs. If the benefits safety net is taken away they will go out and get a job. Even in a depression people have gone out and hunted a job, its possible.0 -
Don't have a go at me, thanks. I was just saying what the lady in the shop said.0

You need to develop some common sense yourself instead of taking what a supermarket till operator says as gospel. They are probably biased too in their opinions.0 -

Many student jobs are not advertised - you need to regularly ask them, pop into shops, pubs etc leave your number. I know there are less jobs, but there are some.0 -
My son has applied to a lot of the shops. I have told him to physically walk into places and ask. He babysits for my friends children and i have said to him to try the ball parks as he is great with kids. Or put an ad up for babysitting as he can get references. But in this day and age people are wary of having boys babysit. I am sure he will find something.
Sorry if i sounded defensive but it is just the way some react.0 -

You can use the library internet access for free plus they will have all the daily newspapers.
There seems to be a myth that Jobseekers can access the Internet in libraries for free to look for work. Where I live (mid Devon) you have half an hour free a day then they charge quite high rates. There are no concessions for unemployed so the max time for jobseekers is only 2.5 hours per week as our library is now closed one day a week due to Council cutbacks.0 -

The problem is though these supermarkets dont reduce the price of the goods, they just put them up on a weekly basis (not just by 1 or 2p either). All it does is make a bigger profit for them0 -
