At the school my kids went to they would give them the morning after pill, which I thought was hilarious as they wouldn't give them a paracetamol if they had period pains. I did suggest to the school that it would be better to stand at the school door on a Friday handing out condoms as STIs are just as worrying as pregnancy, some of them more so, but they looked at me like I was mad.

Not at the school I am talking about. They told me they wouldn't do that as it would be encouraging it but the morning pill is obviously after the event.

My son's school is directly opposite our town's teenage sexual health clinic. The clinic make a point of being open on Friday lunchtimes and do all sorts of silly promos to encourage the kids to come in, look around and (hopefully) pick up condoms while they're there. Lucky dip bags, condoms inside a ballon, condoms with every chocolate etc etc. They even did a Christmas Selection Box. There were still two under-16 pregnancies at the school last year. I think they should be handing them out in the actual schoool, yup.

This is great to see so many people in favor, it's usually the opposite in my experience

It's great to see so much common sense, teenagers have sex, condoms and contraception (or access to these) do not make them have more sex, it just gives them the chance to have that sex with reduced risk of sti or pregnancy. The normalisation of access to contraception and the access to people to talk about sex/relationships can only be a good thing

I guess I'm a traditionalist. I think it's better for girls to leave school before they have children.

I think we are agreeing, that is why it's important for girls and boys to be able to access contraception easily, that's why I actually think that this should be available in all schools, I don't think the school should be able to refuse, it should be a standard that all school nurses deliver

It does seem strange that it's the school's responsibility to provide contraception. A teenage sexual health clinic would be more appropriate than a place of education. I also think it's giving out the wrong message, if girls as young as 14 are being offered the Pill. 14 is too young to be having a sexual relationship, I'm sorry.
