Just a bit of a general question from my wife. She works with this woman who is a bit of a bullshtter and she has told her that in her daughters school they give out contraception pill to girls, her daughter is 14. She says the school are not obliged to inform her parents.
is there any truth in this? can schools give contraception to females at 14 and not inform parents. Seems a bit bizarre but we live in the UK after all

If the school nurse has a qualification in contraceptive advice, then yes. And whilst they are encouraged to discuss with their parents, the parents will not be told without the girl agreeing to this.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

Certainly girls of 14 can get contraception such as the pill without parental knowledge or agreement. Schools may well have a link with the local sexual health clinic for this.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Our local school also has a condom clinic. Scares me to think a 14 year old would be in a sexual relationship.0

Scares me more to think a 14yo would be in a sexual relationship without access to advice on contraception and sexual health.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
