Which Dyson to buy?

I love my DC35!
4 bed semi, 4 cats, 2 dogs, 1 OH and it does the job easily. A charge lasts enough for upstairs or downstairs so I clean one one day and the other the next. Pet fur is no problem, dusting attachment really good. Leightweight for carrying about and my OH even uses it!Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
Hmmm.. we've just recently gone in the opposite direction (as many others I read have too!) after many apparently happy years with a dc07.
Same here. I had Dysons for years but the last one was rubbish, very poorly made and faults started cropping up within months. It seems to me that quality control has gone down the pan since production moved to Malaysia, I would never buy another Dyson.Every generation blames the one before...

The sweeper brush does not rotate. I have cleaned it out quite a few times, as bits do get stuck. It is about 18 months old, and I assume out of warranty.
dependent on machine is either 2 or 5yr guarantee would check dyson site for yours suspect is still in guarantee! and most machines are 5 year!
suggest you start here http://www.dyson.co.uk/support.aspx0 -

Thanks. I removed some bits today, cleaned it and discovered the roller goes round. But I have to replace the brush bar, wheels and soleplate as they have bitumen on them (it was used before carpet went down). Should be easy apart from the brush bar.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
And there I've been for the last 8 years thinking that the ethos of the site is to buy 'what you want' for the best price possible - the OP doesn't want a sebo or henry or a vax, they want a dyson ball and were asking opinions on which model.
I wouldn't buy anything except a Dyson. I'm a happy ball owner too.

Pointless suggesting any other makes to Dyson people, since they will only buy a Dyson, regardless of how good or bad they might be.
It's the same problem as those who buy Apple electronic devices - any ability to objectively compare the products with equivalents from other manufacturers is totally and permanently lost.0 -

In the case of Apple, they generally do make very good products, with attention to the user interface. I say this as a Microsoft Windows engineer.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

If someone's question is 'which model of dyson?' as opposed to 'which brand of vacuum cleaner?' it is utterly and completely futile to suggest electrolux/vax/anything but dyson surely?
And I wouldn't be without my goblin aquavac which is still used after 20 years...0 -
Henry - cheap end, Miele - mid range, never used anything more expensive.
All the dysons i've used in the past have developed faults, parts broke, belt break or motors burnout.0 -

Well, I'm fortunate in that I have never had any of the problems you report since my purchase of the DC01 in the mid-1990s so that's why I'm sticking to Dyson - in spite of all the (I'm sure) well-meaning advice to buy another cleaner.
I'd like to thank the people who actually answered my question.0
