Which Dyson to buy?

My faithful old DC07 needs to be retired - it's simply too heavy.
I want a Dyson Ball Upright (don't like cylinders).
There seem to be so many variations of the Dyson Ball I'm struggling really to differentiate between them.
Any recommendations from Dyson owners would be appreciated.

One made by Panasonic, Electrolux, Hoover or another decent brand would be my recommendation.

I don't want "Panasonic, Electrolux, Hoover or another decent brand" - but thank you for your input.0

Hmmm.. we've just recently gone in the opposite direction (as many others I read have too!) after many apparently happy years with a dc07.
Went for a Vax Mach Air U91 (I think!) for several reasons:
1. Price - half that of a Dyson
2. 6 year guarantee
3. Lightweight - only 4.9kg
4. Turbotool included (astinishing what one of these little things can do!)
5. 10m power cord
6. Very low profile - goes right inder the sofa/coffee table etc
7. Customer service - reportedly very good. (Not needed so far)
8. Made in Great Britain - Droitwich I think - Dyson sold out to china opr something.
9. Actually using it is a joy - it literally picks the carpet up off the floor it's that powerful.
10. Only downside is a small cylinder - but we're getting used to it now.
I know you're a 'pro-Dyson' but please take on board other peoples opinions - that's what sites like these are for.

We have a small terrace house, 2 adults & one dog and it's perfect for our needs. I tend to empty canister every time I've used dyson but that's just habit I've got into. Just need to wash filter out once a month and that's about all you need to worry about. I've tried virtually every model of (upright) vacuum cleaners over the years and always vowed never to buy a dyson but I'm now very pleased I changed my mind. We ordered ours from Amzon & whilst not cheap think it was worth the money. Good luck with choosing your dyson. So many to choose from, it does get a little overwhelming.
Thank you, just the sort of feedback I'm looking for.0 -

I've already tried the Vax and found it wanting, hence my decision to replace my Dyson with a Dyson.0 -

I also own a DC24 & can't fault it. The other models I tried were really heavy. I have a 4 bed house & I empty it between floors but don't find this a problem as it's quick & easy to do.
In fact I'm so impressed with mine that I've just ordered one for my mum to replace her tired Henry Hoover. There is £50 off the DC24 at Argos at the moment. You've got to be in it to win it!0 -
We had a DC24 and in our old house, which was was all carpet, it was a dream. Lightweight and cleaned effeciently. When we moved to our current house, there is only one room of carpet and we prefer a Henry on it. My mum has the DC24 and loves it.
BTW we got ours from Comet on offer and the advantage was that they had a Dyson rep in store and we could test run it properly in the store.0 -
I've got a Dyson Ball upright and am absolutely delighted with it! I have had Dyson vacuums for many years, and did try a Vax before buying this one but it was not a patch on the Dyson!Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0
