Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.
On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.
Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:
Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week
This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.
Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

Thanks as always for the shiney new thread ETO I can't believe this one will see us into 2013!
So ... will be onto the new budgets;)
I have £32.30 / week for Groceries in 2013 - which might seem an odd figure but working on an annual budget of £1680:)
Haven't quite worked out if I should do even weekly splits yet or do a big one one week, smaller the next .... mmmmmm decisions, decisions
To be on the safe side just now and as I don't need a lot, let's say:
Groceries £0 / £25
Misc £0 / £10
Total £0 / £35
That doesn't seem an awful lot  - have excluded fuel (budget = £30 / week and usually just about spend this to within a couple £s) and not really got anything else on next week
Best of luck everyone - hoping this challenge will help me stay within budget next year :T (managed my first £0 Misc spend this week :j)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

I know. I don't know where this year has gone. I was wishing that the thread could start on the 1st.
My budget is £90 this week, some of which was left from last week.
Groceries - £35
Petrol - £25
Nails - £20
Misc - £10
Not sure the £10 misc will be enough as i am due to go out for tea with a couple of friends, but we havent set a date yet, so reluctant to budget for it and fritter it. So will have a plan for a further £20 to add but will still count it as green week if i spend it. If that makes sense.
I am also definitely finding a weekly budget for groceries is working best for me at the mo. I tend to be spending around £25 - £30 on a Sunday/ Monday but buying what i need for the week, with a very small top up. This will change when my appetite is back and when hubby is back from Afghan. But is helpng to keep my spends low at the mo.
Have a good week everyone. And a happy new year to you all.

Green last week with £19.22/£20
Next week will be a bit more as one of my sons have been invited to a party at a play centre and i will have to pay for my other son to play, plus present for birthday boy, bus fare to get there, and thats just tomorrow.
So next weeks budget will have to be £50PAD Maker0 -
Newbie here, starting from Monday 31st - Sun 6th Jan :-)
This weeks budget -
£35 Grocery Shop
£15 Petrol
£10 Entertainment & Kids Groups
Total £60Debt December 2012 - Approx £4070...

Morning everyone. Cant believe that so far Im the only one red for last week
Pledging £120 again for this week, which includes £50 petrol for DH and I, and £70 groceries and misc spends (Ive had my hair cut from that this week). We arent planning on going anywhere for the next few days, so hopefully will be NSD's. Back to work Wednesday for both of us so the last couple of days will definately be NSD's other than petrol. Hoping to come in under budget this week as next week will be a big spend as its DS's birthday party so that needs paying for as well as a cake.
Good luck everyone0 -
Welcome along hereigoagain22. Good luck with the challenge.
And dont worry about being red E2006, it gets us all at some point, but if you know where it went then that's a good start.
The first week in ages where everyone has come back to declare. :j
Some spends for me today. Groceries, petrol and small misc spends today. About £6 of grocery money left, and £6 of misc money and my £20 for nails. Bring it on...SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -

The groceries incl a few things that weren't on the list- whoopsied chicken thighs that I'll do in the SC tomorrow & a couple of things that were on offer that I'd have needed to get in the next couple of weeks (this is where I fall down as I rarely just buy things that I'll use this week IYKWIM?)
Misc - well that was my treats for NYE ... a big pack of cheese puffs & a tub of Prin*gles ... this girl knows how to live!:rotfl:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Hi,
I'm wondering if it's ok if I do this challenge just for personal spending i.e. not including grocery budget??
Starting again in Jan and I'd like to get an idea of what I'm spending on grocery before trying to decrease it!
If that's ok I'd like to set my budget at €20 and I've already spent €3.90 of that on Sunday papers! Haven't bought them in months but it's a miserable day and I had visions of papers, fire, tea, Christmas tree lights on and dog asleep at my feet! Didn't get the fire as DH is the fire man and he's not feeling well but the rest worked out!4/10 NSD
personal spending
Week 1 €6.64 left
Week 2 11.29/€200
