... seriously though, walking to work is a great option for many people lucky enough to have jobs. But what about if it's just to interviews and you don't get a single one? Must be pretty discouraging all the same.

I think most britons have good decent hearts that don't want to see helpless tryers sufferng and would say 'Well Done Mate!' Miserable cold water pourers are in the minority.

About the £71, didnt you know that many job hunters arent getting anything? Dont you watch the news? Hence food banks....
Job hunters who get nothing have money. There is a hardship allowance for jobseekers who have zero money and no one to support them. Crisis loans are available.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Good. A bit of stick is just what they need if they never paid into the system.
  • The truth is finally coming out... many job hunters are left destitute without a penny! Many have their food money stopped on a pretext, excuse or whim (not understanding the form, entering wrong dates, confusion about exactly what's expected in job searches, UniversalJobsFarce website locking them out etc and yet 'Advisors' make blunder after blunder with no sanctions, just taking the pay.

Ed Miliband is right... many honest job hunters are forgotten and abused and feel there is no hope and they have reached the end of the road and taking their own life is the only way out, as has happened recently.

Dont say it isnt true ... or why else are the Con government giving Jobcentre staff 'Suicide Training?' This is now the NoHopeSociety!

    unworthy and a bit disgusting
  • But why are there people with no hope? Is it because we reward !!!!less parents with money for having children? Well i wonder what those children will grow up to be like, well now we have the answer.

We should have actually rewarded the !!!!less with money for not breeding or being sterilised. That would have made sense.

When I changed jobs I had a six mile journey to work that took two buses again and what with the scheduling would have taken me over an hour and a half. I got my bike out and cycled, it took twenty-five minutes instead.

An eleven mile cycle would take about an hour for an averagely fit person, unless it was all uphill. Just saying.....

I wish I could cycle to work but 26 miles (52 mile round trip) is a bit too far, about 10-15 miles would be perfect, not only would it save me money but also time as I do a fair bit of cycling to keep fit in my own time. Additionally I work in central London and cycling there isn't particularly good (I used to cycle to work when I lived there). I have been looking at cycling to Morden tube station (from Dorking) which is about 15 miles but I would have to get a decent road bike and leave it there, but I reckon it would get nicked if I did.

No let the idiot keep posting, the hole is now so deep that his head's below the rim.
No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Yes I agree! There is another thread about it - Suicide training for job centre staff, on the Employment jobseeking thread.
