  • Is there somewhere that we can post links to favourite decluttering websites or books? I am not sure what collective resources exist here.

This decluttering decision flowchart helps me a lot!

And decluttering does get easier as time progresses - you become more ruthless. Start with the easy things and in the next round you'll be able to tackle slightly more difficult items (like unwanted but guilt-ridden gifts and sentimental clutter).
  • Please can I join, I would say my house is fairly clutter free UNTIL you open a cupboard in the kitchen/bathroom/under the stairs/craft cupboard etc, i hope yo start with 10 things a day, will begin this tomorrow and k4p you updated, this will motivate me

    Hi!

I'd like to join too! I've managed to de-clutter 10 things from my kitchen last night (not food lol!). Not much to de-clutter in there but loads of stuff in my bedroom, bathroom and lounge. More clothes and shoes than I could ever wear and thousands of photos to sort through and scan onto DVD. And my mac and portable hard drive needs some serious sorting out too!

I am in the process of using up all the bath goodies in the bathroom but got some more for xmas to add to my stash! I love nice bath stuff/smellies so am very pleased with my pressies!

I want to get it sorted so I can actually spend my free time doing other things and catching up with my sewing, knitting and cross stitching. I've started painting the lounge so am trying to get it all nice clean and shiny!

    Cheers

    hi
I'm in, going for 1200 during 2013. If a lot of you have sweet wrappers and other such rubbish, perhaps this project might be a place you might like to send some of it to http://recreationsproject.wordpress.com I am not involved with the project, but saw it elsewhere and thought it seemed interesting.Address for donating materials is http://recreationsproject.wordpress.com/supporting-us/donating-materials/

  • Got my hubbie to dismantle my Ds's high sleeper and put it and the mattress outside. The slats are bent and the mattress has seen much better days.
The bedroom looks better already but you can now see all the rubbish- most of it in boxes that was under it.

He is sleeping on sofa bed until we get him a new bed, but do we get a plain divan or one with drawer? Will the drawers hold more rubbish or be usefull storage for his stuff?

Although as he is nearly 11 now, it's mainly Xbox! Out of toy stage

Wow! Thank you for the link. That is so useful! I might send her all my old candlewax. I've been saving it because I used to use it for firelighting but I haven't had a house with an open fire now for five years. I may be able to eat some quality street too. Just to help her out you understand..

I've been working on decluttering too. Managed to get rid of 6 big bags of my clothes and 1 bag for my husband this week. Before Christmas, we cleared out a few drawers in the lounge. I've also been gradually chucking out / using up toiletries, although still seem to have an awful lot.

I could do with some tangible aims. Are people doing specific challenges? I'm trying to have a one in / one out policy, but not sure if I will keep to this.

Books are still my weakness, I'm not that keen on reading on the Kindle and also find books more expensive on there, compared to second hand paperbacks.
  • I'm impressed cte! I have a real problem with clothes. I always try them all on and think "well that looks ok, I'll keep it".

One thing I'm setting myself as a task to do today is the "Ol' Switcheroo" as described on this blog - http://rayandjen.com/2010/12/the-ol-switcheroo/ I think this will show me what I do actually wear. I am not going to be ridiculously strict though, it might mean that a few things end up in the drawer instead of on a hanger if I don't wear them that often but I love them.

I'd like to do that today and declutter at least ten things which I will list on here.

    Count me in please!

I like the idea of 365 things decluttered in 365 days.

I'm looking for a new job at the moment, so money is very tight anything I can sell will be beneficial.
