It would just be nice if folk actually stuck to buying what they really 'needed' and didn't just grab anything / everything available to resell on fleabay etc like so many seem to do.

Last year I was lucky and got one of the large S&G sets, at that time there were lots left, by lunchtime there was nothing and I really find it hard to believe that every person who left the store with trolley loads of purchases (and I'm not exaggerating, some folk had several trollies full) had bought everything as future gifts or for themselves (or even for others who couldn't make it to the sale).

I agree, I don't even know how they can make that much money from selling the larger gifts on Ebay anyway, some are quite bulky & weighty & must cost a lot to post!

Then there are the people that buy to sell in their shop or at car boots & markets. There was a a woman last year buying all the Lynx & Dove sets & openly admitting that it was for her shop - the contents don't say not for resale inside so there's nothing to stop anyone breaking branded sets down & selling on.

People were there with their suitcases to take it all back in! You can't really put a limit on it when people have all their family there they still get more than their share.

I guess Boots are just happy to clear the stock but you would think they would want as many people to benefit from their bargains as possible.

I generally spend about £40-£50, we're not a big family so I'll buy the stuff that I fancy for myself & get a few things in to keep as a backstock of gifts for Birthdays, Christmas, Mothers Day, Fathers Day & any other emergency gifts that I may need throughout the year.
Sometimes I'll get one or two things for my friend who works for Boots too - if there's anything that she's wanting as they're not allowed the first pick of the bargains & when they get chance to buy it's all been picked over by vultures & there's nothing left.
I think it's a bit unfair not letting the staff who work hard for the company all year put aside a couple of things each; especially when there are people coming in clearing the shelves to sell on!

    Happy New Year everyone :A

I will be going with my mum, I love using the 75% off sale to get next years christmas and birthday gifts. I need to save what I can and this is a brilliant way to do it. It can get very busy I agree I just hope its not too bad. Baby will be in her sling this year as well.... will make it interesting

Be careful if you're taking the baby, most people are civilised and fair but one or two people can get very pushy & are only interested in what they can get as they're looking to make a quick profit, wouldn't want the baby to get knocked in the stampede.

    :)

Not everyone gets 3+ items and some of us are very happy with 50% off the few things we do buy thank you very much!

Never said that everyone did but majority of people do so based on that you don't save that much. Particularly when you think that before Christmas some of the gifts such as Sanctuary, Champneys & Boots Extracts had 25% off before Christmas and were still in the 3 for 2 deal....

I'll buy items in the 50% sale which I know won't make it until 75% day but other than that I'm happy to wait.

Can understand people buying at 50% as not eveyone wants to get caught in the stampede and some can't make it for 75% day. I personally don't rely on the website for 75% day as can never guarantee that you would get your items delivered.

    Happy New Year everyone

I need something clarifying..... from the OP.....

    10 Jan 2005
    15 Jan 2008
    14 Jan 2009
    20 Jan 2010
    19 Jan 2011
    18 Jan 2012

The last 3 years it's been the 4th Wed after Christmas.

Doesn't that make the 2014 sale date (possibly) 22nd January not the 15th?

    Happy moneysaving all.

Nothings certain - they could always change it but based on the last couple of years I think it will be the 15th - but keep checking back on the thread for more updates.

I know what you are saying about Ebay yes I know people have businesses to run etc etc but to me people who buy from Boots 75% solely to flog on are no better than ticket touts because it is greediness praying on the real fans not being able to get tickets/products before they do! But hey its allowed and people still buy it overinflated off EBay so the selling continues on. I personally couldn't do it, I really couldn't. One you are taking a risk in buying it that if it don't sell that you lose money and two I couldn't be bothered with the hassle, EBay charges to list, then packaging, the bigger bags must be a fortune to post so the return is minimal.

I had a look round my local store today Leamington Parade, if I brave the 75% off sale I will head here, to be honest theres nothing I need because I got lots of lovely gifts for xmas however I will keep an eye out and see whats left, I might treat my sister

Last year - 2013 - was definitely 16th Jan. I had it booked off work and just looked back.
I'm sure someone will get some insider information about it, and be able to confirm nearer the time :)
