I'm single and live alone. My siblings and their partners always go out (separately, siblings haven't talked to each other in over 17 years). I'm never invited and by the time I find out what they are doing it's "too late" to get me a ticket or take me along to a party. Every year I try to get involved in their arrangements but they always say they haven't really decided yet.......next thing is, they've decided and it's too late to make arrangements for me to join them.
So, I stay at home and listen to Jools Holland. I can't describe how hurt I feel.

I don't like New Year at all. It's just too depressing so I'm pleased that my OH is working early on New Years Day so we can go to bed and not do anything.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

For the last 3 years we have gone to friends for a house party & stayed over which has always been fun. This year we have declined the invite as we want to spend it on our own. We have a bottle of Bollinger in the fridge & we are having a takeaway & curling up to watch a film together. Really looking forward to it.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.

Thanks for all the replies, nice to see we aren't alone is staying at home! We don't usually mind and get the party food on and play games ect as a family but getting a bit same-y every year and thought one day we might get invited along to something that everyone else seems to go to but fails to mention to us.
Very much like Miss H nothing mentioned at all and then they suddenly have plans which they mention now-far too late for us to get tickets or an invite.
So feel we are left out every year, to be honest i would imagine if we did do a party at ours we would get a lot of 'sorry we can't make it' or last minute drop outs anyway from knowing what they are like as they would rather be elsewhere.
Will stick to what we do best and stay home together.0 -
Maybe spend this year trying to extend your circle of friends? All this waiting around for invites that never come is a very strong sign that you are not connecting well with existing crowd?0
