    OK.

    Change the email a bit:

"It looks like the tickets may have been stolen but don't worry. I have contacted the event organisers and reported it. They say that they will cancel those two tickets and issue replacements. Anyone attempting to gain entry with the original tickets will be apprehended and, unless they can prove they are entitled to them, the police, who will be on hand for crowd control, will be called” :D

They might see that as just bull but it might lead them to suddenly realise they have the tickets after all.

    Brill idea....love it....hopefully will work

Although that IS assuming they do have the tickets... If they don't, then you have just admitted they're being cancelled and you're getting new ones, so they'll use this to get a refund and still go!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Which they will get anyway if Paypal/Ebay find in their favour.

They can't expect a refund and still get replacement tickets from the OP.

At the moment you have seller protection.

Say the tickets have been cancelled - and surely the buyer is then due their refund.

All this saying check with neighbours etc. will just give the buyer ideas - all you had to do was say royal mail are showing they are delivered - end of.

Speaking as someone who wouldn't dream of trying to pull a fast one, I'd be bemused if a seller came up with one of these "scaring off scammers" stories such as going to the concert and they'll look to see who sits in those seats. If I was sent such a message, I would ask the seller to take a photo of anyone sitting in the seats and send it to me after the concert. So that I can see if I recognise the people in possession of the tickets. After the concert I'd chase the seller for the photos a couple of times, and if they weren't forthcoming, leave a big fat neg.

There may be scammers who would be scared off by such stories. There might also be experienced ebay buyers who would recognise such a story as lying and manipulation, and not be pleased.

I agree, by starting off with long convuluted lies it just makes the seller look very dodgy.

I am considering posting a message I got a few days back actually, which as a buyer really irritated me..maybe I will

hmmm never seen a resolution like this before! (suits me tho)

    Hello Charlotte,

Thanks for contacting eBay Customer Service about the tickets that you recently sold to "xxxxx" who filed an item not received case against you. I reviewed your email, and I understand that you’re not happy to refund your buyer for an item you have provided proof of delivery for. Please allow me to assist you with this.

Your buyer reported that they did not receive the tickets from you even though you have provided valid tracking for the shipment. We understand sometimes shipments get lost even at the final point of delivery, and to make things easier for both you and your buyer, eBay will assume the cost of the refund. This is a one-time only courtesy, and we’ll not seek reimbursement from you.
I trust this explains why we made this decision. If you have other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us by replying to this email.
    Many thanks,

    eBay Customer Service

It isn't uncommon, it's a 'no fault refund'.
  • It isn't uncommon, it's a 'no fault refund'.

It does show a flaw in the system in that buyers can claim something never arrived and are likely to get a refund even if they have the item. Unless it is high value it will never get thoroughly investigated.

I guess you just have to hope that ebay keep a careful record of buyers who continually claim that something doesnt arrive. They of course have no record of sellers who resend an item and claim from RM when a buyer just messages to say its not been received.

I would safely assume that the buyer has now been refunded, rendering the tickets invalid. As the seller I would now consider ensuring the tickets do not get used and report them as stolen\missing in order to make them void.
