  • Thank you! It feels really nice to be back!

I haven't really got round to doing under my make up desk but I did manage to get rid of all the rubbish around that area as well as tidying the actual desk.

Whilst sorting under my desk I found myself tidying up my desk and even though there are papers and odd bits to sort out it is defiantly looking much better then what it was a few hours ago.

I really need to get into the habit of taking at least 10 mins every day just to focus on one area to tidy, even if it is just throwing rubbish away and putting paper in a neat "to be sorted" pile.

  • Fairy, what a lovely looking Christmas quilt!! I wish I had some talent in that direction, but I think people would rather pay me NOT to make stuff for them :( I hope you are feeling more positive today after the recent wobbles?

I have a bit of a dilemma..... the lease is up on my flat just before Christmas, and as you know, I've been looking into other alternatives - council housing, subsidised rent etc. Well today my OH asked if I wanted to move my stuff into the caravan at the end of his garden (romantic eh?!) - he has a 2 bed semi but has a static caravan behind it where a family were living until recently, so it's quite spacious. I don't think either of us are ready for the commitment of properly moving in together, and he has a lodger anyway, but his logic is that I spend most of my time at his house anyway, so why not?

From a financial point of view it does make sense, it would save me £800 a month which I could put towards the debts, but I do love my little flat! It's so handy for everywhere & I've really enjoyed having my own place for the first time in my life (I've always shared with partners, friends etc), although recently I have been sad that I'm never at home, seems such a shame when I do actually like where I live.

I'm a bit concerned about moving too in case it all goes pear shaped - I'd be dependent on him for some things such as washing, post going to his address etc - and also I'm worried about how secure a caravan would be, for me living in it and/ or keeping my stuff in there, although to be fair the previous people didn't have any problems.

If anyone has any thoughts your opinion would be most welcomed as I really don't know what to do for the best!! At least there's no rush to make my very indecisive mind up!
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

Aw thanks Ruby :) i'm enjoying sewing it! No wobbles atm, just a bit fed up for some reason. Its not really like me to get bored cos i could find 101 things to do LOL!

Re the caravan - i think it is a brilliant idea. I know you like your wee flat, but there is nothing to say you can't get another one maybe 6 months down the line if you want. It does seem silly to be paying out rent for a place you are not really in too often. at the minute esp you just need a place to hold your stuff and a place to lay your head cos you are out working so much. £800 per month is a huge amount to be paying.

I think you are right to be concerned about what might happen should things go pear shaped - its early in the relationship, truth is though you could decide to move in together in a years time and it go pear shaped then.....we never know what is going to happen. I'd say a good open chat about your worries in that sense would be a good idea - do the what if's with him. Should things go pear shaped there are easy ways around washing and post - laundrette? post box? etc and well you would always have the option of moving again if needs be. Living in a caravan might also get you more points for the council place??? not sure about that bit. Security is probably less of an issue than you might think - you can add alarms to the door/windows if you wanted to, and presumably the garden is closed in? you would still have your own place yet not be paying so much :)

My suggestion would be to put money aside into a savings account or something for a deposit on a flat should you decide its not for you. This would give you a bit of peace of mind. I would also look at saving a bulk payment up to clear your debts completely - settlement figures are often 50 - 60% of the debt but you have to pay it all at once. This is how i got my debts cleared so quickly. Just think if you stayed in the caravan for just 6 months that would be almost £5,000 to pay off your debts - you can use this opportunity to make yourself a fresh start :D

Flip i have you almost moved in and all LOL! One thing i have learned though is its great to have the 'luxury' of something you like/want, but usually we can do without it for a little while. I managed without my car for about 6 months and i live 6 miles walk from the nearest shops - that 6 months made a huge difference to clearing my debt!

Thats my opinion anyway ;) hope it helps xxx
