  • Today i...
    - Went to placement
    - Had a informal meeting with my palcement supervisor to go through my task book that has to be ticked off (I had a meeting only so she could say what she'd like me to do or if i need to do certain tasks) All of it was positive.
    - I put my dirty clothes straight into the washing basket (I usually throw it on the floor in a big pile then move it as and when)
    - I tidied by the front door a little as my dog knocked over my mums boots and moved a few things around
    - Edited some of my research task
    - Had a laugh with dad looking at old computers and music videos... we're so nerdy when we want to be (lol)
    - Checked my bank; my £10 refund hasn't gone in...yet. Mum said it could take up to a month

    And thank you,
    FairyClicks!
Thought it sounded a little more "me"
and a little "grown up" but I refuse to grow up to be
a grumpy person... I like fun lol.

  • Just catching up after a few days away! LeopardPrints - I'm impressed with the new name and your productivity :)Fairy - any news on your application or is it too early to hear yet?

Well, yesterday I did three brave things, or at least I thought they were brave:

    1. I went to my hospital appointment about my high blood pressure even though I knew the consultant would say I needed to lose some weight (he did!). But, he was very helpful and supportive, and my BP is ok so that's not too bad.
    2. I rang CAP about my HSBC overdraft and explained why I was concerned, they're asking me to pay back £720 but they know I'm on a DMP and in fact have accepted the payments. They told me not to do anything and HSBC should be going via them anyway. Also, apparently I have paid back one (very small) debt already - hurrah!
    3. I gave notice on my flat. Sob :( yes, I've taken everyone's advice and will be moving into the caravan before Christmas. Financially it makes sense, but I will so much miss my little flat :(:(

Apparently once I've moved I need to give CAP details of my new rent payments, so they can rejig my budget appropriately. Fairy, I know your advice was to keep the payments the same and save up the extra to offer final debt settlements; they told me they couldn't advise me to do this (as my creditors should be told if I have spare cash) BUT if I do have say £7K - £8K to offer, they could use that to negotiate full settlement. I don't, but I could have in 6 months or so if I'm not paying rent. Very confused all round now as to what I should tell them!
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

Its still morning (just about) so good morning everyone :)

Suzi - sorry to hear you not feeling well and hope you are better again :)

Leopard - well done on all the progress you are making :)

hummingbird - yey well done on changing the phone accounts, its great when you can rejig this way :)

Ruby - well done on doing all your brave things!! I know how difficult it can be to take certain steps :D

Re the application i don't know when i will hear - could be months.....but at least it is in!

Re the rent situation - yes what CAP are saying is true, they can't (aren't allowed) recommend you hold onto spare cash but they also know what i told you is true - if you have a lump sum available they can negotiate settlement figures. I'm afraid the decision has to be yours as to what you tell them - your DMP won't be due to be reviewed for around 6 months unless you inform them of changes of circumstances which of course you are supposed to do. If you inform them you will have to pay a higher monthly figure into your DMP, but you will not be able to ask for a settlement figure so will be paying the total amount back.

I chose to offer settlement figures and had them all accepted at between 40 - 60% of the total i owed - it allowed me to clear my debts a lot quicker that way....... but i got a lump sum to work with and negotiated directly with my creditors.

Sorry if i have complicated the decision for you!! xxx

  • Oh blimey! Thanks for the advice Fairy, it's tricky isn't it?! I think the main issue is that I can't get a lump sum NOW, but I could have it six months down the line, mainly by saving up what I'm now paying in rent & bills. I don't know if CAP would let me increase the monthly payments now (say by £100 or so) and then let me offer a settlement figure down the line? They don't ask for any proof of rental amounts, so I'm guessing that as long as whatever I say I pay is reasonable, that's all they can go off. Hmmmm, I will have to give that some thought.....

In other news, the agency have accepted my month's notice and will start looking for new tenants for the flat - sob! Let's hope all goes well with my OH, or it'll be a long cold winter in the caravan!! xxx
