I've used Westin Gourmet too, so would be interested to hear what this lot are like as well.
To be honest, I use my farm shop, as it has a proper butchers, who provide stock bones, and cut the bits to size as you need them etc. I've learned to butcher a whole chicken, and it's really easy to take the breasts off the bird and then prep the rest for a roast, with enough leftovers for a curry or soup too. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I'm dithering between Westin Gourmet, and Clare Barry. Both seem good.
Can anyone recommend either?

how did the meat go? was it nice?0

Ok...
Chicken drumsticks - lovely and tasty, very meaty and tender.
Chicken breasts- certainly not pumped with water, average around 200grams each, very tenderThey don't have tonnes of fat to cut off either, like many shop bought one's..
Mince- quite a chunky mince (not as fine as the shop bought stuff)more dense mince, tastes good even with too much garlic lol.Did find a tiny gristley bit.Make excellent burgers.
Pork steaks- perfect for stir fry,not as nice as the fresh pork loin fillet I usually buy but much cheaper and for stir fry it doesn't make a huge difference.
Beef steaks- unfortunately these are rather tough.Would probably be good if used in a pie or casserole though.
The whole chickens- yum!!!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Just thought I'd add that the garlic overload probably made those burgers taste better...
I wouldn't actually recommend the mince, tesco lean steak mince is much nicer and not so coarse.
The chicken comes with a huge thumbs up though! If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Customer service is amazingly good. They literally turn themselves inside out to make sure their customers are happy.
This isn't my experience. I had two orders and both had significant problems and it took me a very long time to get a refund. Never mind an apology.
They have very misleading offers and actually they've put me off buying meat online at all now. I'll go back to my local farm shop which might be a little more expensive but at least they're trustworthy.0 -
I'm definitely tempted.
I have found buying frozen chicken from the supermarket its grim, i assumed it was because being frozen takes the taste out of it.
I assume everyone who orders in bulk put majority of it in the freezer? Is it just as tasty out of the freezer as it is fresh? what do people do about bacon? How long can a pack of bacon come out of the freezer and stay in the fridge for?
Thanks x0
