OP, I'm just glad to read that nobody was hurt and nothing was damaged. I've spent a lot of my hols watching "Cop Squad" (apologies for being so sad...:o) and the like, and this is not always the end result.

I think the reason people get fed up with uninsured drivers is that THEY have paid their own insurance, and are probably in financial difficulties of their own. I'm sure they also make certain that they are morally correct in every other area of their lives, before they judge other people in difficult circumstances.

The police were only doing what they have to do (according to Cop Squad..!) and they seem to have been quite kind not to impound the car. Good for them - it was Christmas Day after all.

I'm annoyed with you too. Not only did you risk the rest of us law abiding insurance payers, you also risked other road users having a big headache with their own insurance if you had an accident with them.

I can't understand why anyone would even consider driving around Xmas and New Year if they are not 100% legal. Everyone knows they are more likely to be stopped.
For driving knowing you are not insured people should be banned for at least 12 months not just given points and a fine.

The sentencing guidelines say this (page 130)
Consider range from 7 points – 2 months disqualification where vehicle was being driven and no evidence that the offender has held insurance.
Consider disqualification of 6 – 12 months if evidence of sustained uninsured use and/or involvement in accident.

    - the O/P drove a car dangerously whilst her decision making was affected by taking drugs
    - the O/P said in # 131 ""the medication does not affect driving in any way"" .. .. clearly it does
    - everyone in that condition is required to complete a D1 form and send it to Swansea for consideration
    - everyone in that condition is required to inform their insurer at the earliest and then the D1 decision outcome by Swansea
    - .. .. if they have enough control over decision making to pay an insurer or do not ever drive

Unless the drugs have not rendered them non compos mentis, in which case they have no insurance and choose drive a car anyway, choose not to inform the relevant authorities, choose not to inform their poor mother she is about to be prosecuted, choose to continue to believe they are clearly able to make good decisions whilst their head is buried in the vadoma prescription.

OP I hope you take note of this post!!! You had no insurance yet used excuse after excuse when you knew you were in the wrong, take responsibility for your actions.

I would love to know whom told you your medication doesn't affect your driving as the DVLA couldn't had as your not insured.

What has no insurance got to to with it?

    - I did, no apologies.......
    - what do you call driving a car without insurance ?
    - or is driving a car on drugs without insurance only half-dangerous ?

    see the fool bit here

    - a quarter or a tenth dangerous maybe, or are prescription drugs not dangerous and non prescription drugs are, how would you classify it ?
