Well....how did it go?

Our day didn't go according to plan. :D

Our 1pm lunch ended up a 4.30pm dinner, I burnt some of the stuffing, I made soggy parsnips (cos I thought I'd save time by parboiling them for a few minutes only I forgot about them and they were in there for ages :o:D), and my braised red cabbage tasted like apple strudel. :rotfl:

We deliberately didn't have a starter this year but we were all so full after the main course that we'd no room for dessert either.

OH has taken mutt out for a walk, kids are watching the chipmunks and I'm having a break before we tackle the dishes.

I am soooooooo relieved it's over. :D

I hope you all are having a lovely day.

I've just woken from my nap :) Kids tell me i was snoring but i don't care. I deserve to annoy them :D

Ate on time, didn't forget anything for a change, nothing burnt, don't really have that much left either, just enough for a lovely fillet steak sarnie later on if i can manage it. No washing up to do, praise the lord for dishwashers ! Best invention ever.

Went to see my MIL in the nursing home this morning, she's away with the fairies but was pleased to see us. Best part of the day was my daughters tears when she found out i'd bought her tickets to see One Direction next year ! My son is enjoying playing with the coffee machine i bought him.

Time now to vegetate until bed time, i have a friend coming round later for a drink (she comes to escape the madness at her house !)

I'm relieved it's over too, i love it but it's non stop from when you get up isn't it ? Still, at least it's only one day.

Hope everyone has had a good day too.
  • I'm glad you've had a good day Alias - soggy 'snips and all! Mine has been remarkably stress free for the first time in forever. :A

My cheesecake was the best thing ever and there were no disasters. I wish my oven was bigger - we have to cook everything in stages :(

Hope everyone has had a brilliant time!
  • I've spent all day laid up on the sofa; flu type symptoms; cough and going hot and cold. DH cooked dinner and I ate a few mouthfuls and felt all dizzy so back on the sofa I went. Very quiet and boring for all involved really. Damn being ill.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Happybutterfly, I have a range style oven.....you still end up cooking things in stages what ever. Just fewer stages and feeling more inept when you know you used to cope with a smaller oven!

We are doing ok, napping after a meal. I haven't been too strong today and faded badly while cooking so dh finished up most of it. We haven't had pudding yet either.

The day started well with my two little boys giving me a lie in till 8.30 :D

Huge amount of fun unwrapping all the gifts and playing with all the lovely new things we got. Loved watching some of the xmas things on TV.

My evil mother tried to put a right old spanner in the works but that is a whole new thread by itself.

Xmas dinner turned out superb and we all really enjoyed it. Far to stuffed to have any pudding so that will be my midnight snack ;)

All in all a really special family day. The first one in this house as I normally celebrate at other peoples homes. Lovely to stay put today in the comfort of my own home and just relax.

Pyjama day tomorrow watching some fab films. Grazing on all the leftovers and having fun watching my kids play with their toys.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

I was woken at 5am by my boys, eventually managed to drag the girls out of bed around 6.30am so they could open presents. Total chaos. The ex arrived to see the kids and it was all very civil and polite and amusing ;). I made dinner, we ate, I slept through Shrek, kids are all now playing happily and I am watching All Star Christmas Presents, probably not the best idea after a bottle of wine. Jeez where's the tissues? :)

  • Well I think that this has been the worst xmas day I have ever had, I didn't even bother cooking so my darling hubby (NOT) and I haven't eaten all day, as he has been in a sulk, and when he sulks, he sulks, I think I have now had to realise that even though he is 73, and has cancer, I am 20 years younger than him, that the time has come to call it quits, I don't want to go on wasting my life with someone I cant love anymore, I haven't loved him for a while, I have only stayed the past year because he has cancer, but when it comes that the only conversation you can have with him, is about cars that is his only interest in life, the only time we ever go out together is when I take him to the doctors, or for his chemotherapy appointment. He dosent socialise, at any time, he never gets out of his bed until 1pm every day of the week then spends about 3 hours reading the newspaper, watches a bit of TV then goes back to his bed, we have had seperate bedrooms for the past 5 years, he dosent want to know my parents, or my son and grandchildren. In fact I have had to choose between my son and grandchildren, or him, as he has cancer and to keep the peace, I couldn't even have my grandchildren and son over for children.

I honestly feel like walking out and leaving him and everything else. Today has been just another boring day, with a boring person.
