Tesco Refunded me in error and are chasing payment!

I bought a Blu ray player from tesco direct and collected it in the local store, at the time the PDA gun wasn't working and all i did was put my signature on a blank peace of paper.
[snip]
Do i have to pay them the money back? Or should i deny collecting the item as it did not go through the PDA?
Thanks
Luke
Not sure your the brightest bulb in the packet.0 -
Sorry couldn't resist posting. My dp has been rushed to hospital, so I'm just awake and thought I'd check back.
I completely understand that the situation is illegal, I don't see why people think the OP should have called Tesco and admitted what had happened. How many of us find a few pounds in the street, or a ring and don't hand it in?
Although in principal the situation is wrong, I don't think we should expect the OP to be getting in touch with Tesco.
I haven't done this before with Tesco (No). But I have in similr situations complained when I probably shouldn't have and taken a full refund and retained goods :rotfl:

I don't think you've read the op properly... But it is early and your probably distressed having to take your loved one to hospital so we can forgive you
Tesco called op, not the other way round.0 -

Legally - Yes you do - just the same as you have to pay for the gas you've already used
Just because it's already in your possession before you pay (you acquired it differently from 'usual') doesn't mean you dont have a contract - Tesco make you an offer, you accept and pay (doesn't matter what order) - contract done
Actually to extend your point (do I have to pay 'after' I have possession) to its logical conclusion - when you fill your trolley at same Tesco its already in your possession - so do you have to pay? When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
Um not so sure a court would be so sympathetic with Tescos. The OP paid collected the item and then tescos, out of thier own stupidity refunded the payment.
However, the OP didn't inform Tesco of the mistake. And when Tesco made a considerate request for the money, the OP first reaction was to see if they could get out of paying.
In my opinion a court would make a decision based in part on who has made a mistake but acted honourably and who has behaved in a dishonorable and unreasonable way.0 -
OP,
If you don't want to pay then don't. But accept the consequences.
And don't come back on here whining that Tesco have barred you and banned you from online shopping. The man without a signature.0 -
That only goes to show the sort of person YOU are...or are you simply trolling.Sorry couldn't resist posting. My dp has been rushed to hospital, so I'm just awake and thought I'd check back.

Happy Christmas, Troll. Though it can't have been that good a day if the only way you can think of spending it is making up daft stories on here.0 -

All irrelevant. The offer was made, accepted and paid. The OP did pay, but was then refunded. And if you want to cite Reductio ad absurdum, then please don't do so on the basis of a strawman. It makes things much easier
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
By the way I'm not a troll! I have been here a while, and post in relation to a number of issues. Trolls tend to be "newbies".
What I write is truth, but if you are not interested or don't believe me that's completely fine. I haven't gone into detail about what I have and have not done - so please don't judge me.
What I do is not the same, but I was making the point that I take every opportunity.
Like when I saw out of date goods on the shelf in Sainsburys, I purchased them and took them right back to complaint - collecting my goodwill gift voucher.
When my Amazon box arrived damaged, I complained so much my whole £149.99 purchase was refunded. (Goods retained)
When my online photo delivery was delayed, I complained for a full refund.
Meaning I saved a fortune on my Christmas spend! :T
I'm not here to brag about my success recently, but I know I will succeed in clearing by debt because I am now wise with my actions and money.
There is no need and never a need to be rude.
Anyway Merry Christmas!0
