I'm so relieved that we can finally start paying his bits off :T we want his DMP GONE by the summer !!! Not sure what course of action we're going to take yet, probably start with the smaller ones and offer F&F settlements.

I'm not sure which order to hit the debts if I'm honest, cos I'm not sure what interest rates some of them have! I'm inclined to clear OH's first because of the DMP ...

e: might add that a payment for £76 came out today for the store card so that means we have paid £127 / £4,400 ! Small dents ...

Find out the details and post them on here and we'll try and help. I've had a few now and am a bit crap with money anyway so I'm not sure how much good I'll be but I'll have a go and someone else will help I'm sure :)

The lady in the article had 305 things to start with, I probably have that many mismatched pop socks.

  • i have just completed a survey on v. op. and it is the first one i have qualified for since october!! is it just me or do others find this too? irritatingly, my balance now stands at £9.95 so i can't claim it until i eventually qualify for another!! lets hope its not another 3 months! oh well, keep plodding on!
I have given myself the target in january of only spending any extra money ive received and not taking any cash out of the bank. so i had cashed in £100 from tcb and am trying to make that last as long as possible. i have £80 left at the moment and 20 days until payday! A challenge is supposed to be tough hey?

    Right, here we go...
Storecard - approx £610 (£250 of it refers to goods ordered by my parents but I want to clear the lot off) we always choose interest-free payments...
DFS - approx £1300? no interest
YB loan - approx £370 when I've made my payment next week... last payment is may or june
    OH's overdraft - £122 (paying on Friday)
    Argos card - £450
HSBC loan + OD - around £1300 combined

The last three are on a DMP so not taking much off them atm, I don't know if the interest rates were frozen or not. The OD for £122 hasn't even been paid by them for some reason which is why we're taking that out first.

    ****rant alert****
I knew it was too good to be true!!! OH has gone to get a haircut and pick up a parcel for me. We decided we weren't having any bread until the flour arrives on Monday from am4zon (20p cheaper each bag and we got 5 bags of white & 5 of wholegrain). Anyway, phones me and says "what do you want for lunch" I say "we've got soup in the cupboard", so he's decided he is going to go and buy a roll!!! I know it's only a bread roll, but I don't think he's getting this whole not spending money when we have food in stuff, I'm cross. But I know if I kick off about a bread roll then that is just silly!
I'm hoping the parcel is my calendar so I can write down a meal plan on it!

Just a quick post to say I can totally empathise! Did a huge shop 2 days ago and OH wants to go shopping so he can cook something for tea... I refused point blank and said I'm not spending money on a monthly shop so you can go and buy more food when we don't need it!!

spagbol you're probably right, it does depend on what you buy. Most of my purchases are either the same, or cost less...

Kerri I think I feel your pain, except with my dad today! He can't not spend money if it's there, and constantly comes home with bags of yellow stickers, that's all fatty (cream, pork pies) or is poor quality, or that's not needed. He thinks it only costs 80p = bargain, and I can't explain that if he doesn't need it, and it goes in the bin, it's as well as binning his money.

It just bugs me, because my parents and sister have a lot of debt between them, mum and sister struggle hard to pay theirs off, while dad hasn't had that realisation moment yet, so he's still living the high life!

(It must be a day for ranting - woopsie!)
