Wow - my housemate was just in the living room, which is at the back of the house, and some guy walked past the window pushing a bike! We've been out to have a look, and we're a little bit creeped out.

She and another housemate nipped out to the shop just after, and apparently drove past him, so they stopped to confront him and said he was off his face, so we're going on a needle hunt tomorrow...

I'm a little concerned because I park my car round the back, and really don't like the idea of coming home after dark tomorrow! It creeps me out that he could have been there when I got back from work earlier, and I maybe didn't notice him. We have an out house, so it's possible they could have been using that to hide in.

I've still not gotten round to getting contents insurance, but think I'm going to sort that out now. I'll put it on the credit card until my saving reach my account in 3 days.

we need to sort ours out too!

just popping in to say hi but ohhhh minicooper that sounds scary, be careful on your needle hunt please. Is the back of your house a private area or is there access for the public? Should he have been there at all, I'm a bit confused as to where he came from.

    Anyway Hi all
hope everyone is good. So we are approaching the target debt free month and I feel like I am in a worse situation than last year in some ways... :-(
I have less debts overall but I owe more and the bank charges are still stinking! I really need to do something about these :(
On the plus side I've re-newed my contract today and I've got a nice new phone with lots of memory for less than I'm paying now on the same tariff that I am on now, so that's all good to save a few pennies.
Need to start scrimping elsewhere and selling everything that isn't nailed down to get cracking with the debt busting though.
    Here's to a DF 2014 :)

The only access is down the driveway - it comes down the side of the house, and opens out into a wide parking bit, and you go through a gate into the garden itself. My housemate never saw him go into the garden, only coming out, so we have no idea how long he was there for. There's no other way into the garden other than to walk past the living room window... I just feel unnerved now like maybe he was in the garden when I got out my car earlier, and I walked past him without seeing him :(

Well done on the new phone contract :) It's amazing what they can give you when you ask! Is there no way you can write to your bank and ask them to freeze your bank charges temporarily? With fewer creditors, you might stand a good chance of getting an interest free credit card to transfer the money to as well, and that will help you a little bit.

Kerri - my SIL was born on New Year's Day. She loves it! Partly because anything she didn't get for Christmas, she has a chance of getting on her birthday but mostly because she believes that the whole world is celebrating her birthday with her as they're all celebrating New Year's Day. And now there's a fad for setting off fireworks at Midnight on New Year's Eve, it just adds to her theory :D

Sods law, it happened to me with a couple of pairs of boots I bought last month.

No creepy guy in our garden tonight, but I have now sorted contents insurance just in case. I will see if I can absorb the payment without digging into my savings. I at least have £20 of cash back to help soften the blow!

amr - email them and ask for some money back, worth a shot as it's within 30 days.

minicooper - sorry to hear you were freaked out, he was probably just there keeping out of the wind and rain not trying to freak you out (hopefully).

His missus - that's a lovely idea :) although I don't particularly want to go into labour with all the fireworks going off on NYE :p I think my main fear with it being new year is the blood banks are always really low around that time, and if something were to happen to us priorities are given to drunk driver crashes etc Plus hospitals are on skeleton staff. I know this is probably not always the case, but it still worries me.

We were really lucky yesterday, OH came down in the morning to find our front door wide open!!! We checked front door was closed properly before going to work yesterday, came back home around 4pm and postie had put all the parcels on the doormat. I was freaked right out. Had a call from my neighbour to say she'd come home around 3:30pm to find the front door wide open, checked on our cats and to see if I was ok and freaked herself out because noone was answering but we hadn't been burgled. I think we were super duper lucky. They planed the front door on Monday as it was sticking and I think the lock is now super dodgy and needs replacing grrr. Will just double lock it for now as that seems to have solved the problem, what an annoyance though and super lucky we don't like in a dodgy area.
