You'll get there H0key, at times I thought I'd never get there but I'm still learning new ways of saving money everytime I read this forum, it's great. I think had I not joined here we'd have spent £1000's already on our baby before she's even born. So far we've spent £139 although we do have the big purchases to buy. I've stopped and had a think about every single thing we need to buy for her and thought "do we really need it or is it a want", it's been fantastic.
Thanks parsniphead, you're almost there now tooand woooooah how much have you already paid off, amazing!

Kerri, thanks - I don't have a DFD because I don't really have debt in the sense that most people talk about it. What I currently have is one big loan, at low interest, which I took on to bail out my mother earlier this year (2 DAYS after I went DF; I whined about it on here at the time) and which I have accepted she won't be able to pay back herself. But it's just a LOC against my house.
I like DFW groups more than the MFW or savings people because you lot are far more hardcore, so I stick around here for that. And money owed is still a debt, even if it's low-interest and secured against an asset, right?
Buying for babies is crazy! You can spend thousands and thousands, but what I found is that my first wanted to sleep in my bed and threw up all over her clothes every ten minutes anyway, had no interest in toys and loathed the pram until over 6 months old...so all my stuff was a waste, and I was glad I didn't buy top-end. When are you due?MFW diary here. 1 Feb 2017 $229,371 - MFD Feb 2043  aiming for May 2028
14 August 2017 - Refinanced: $220,000
January 2019 $211,580 Current MFD 31 June 20360 -
Oh I remember you saying now. Yay to being debt-free yourself though
and what a lovely thing to be doing for your Mum. I definitely remember talking to you about this before now. I'm due on January 1st but I think she's going to be born on the 9th for some reason so I've got that date in my head. We shall have to see though.
Minicooper - I'm on the eat anything diet, if I want it I get to eat itworks for me. Although normally involves eating lots of cake mmmm.

You are much more sensible than my sister Kerri. She is on her 5th child and she can't resist new prams. Baby is 3 months and has 3 bugaboos so far, all in different colours :eek:SPC9 #125 - £816.85

o/h's cousin literally had a new pram every week, a brand new one as well!!! i don't know where they got the money from to fund them all as neither of them were in work  i guess you don't get what you paid back for a pram once you've used it :rotfl:0 -
Oh my days why would you need so many prams/pushchairs??? I don't watch ANY television so I definitely think that helps as I'm not bombarded by adverts telling me I need this or I need that. I also block adverts on my computer so I don't see anything
We want a top of the range S1lver Cr0ss, but only because I've done loads of research and found it's the best one for our needs. We need something to fit in the car, but that we can also take off-road for walks in the countryside, so needs good suspension. Plus, it's got a tiny basket (my sister was unimpressed by this aspect) so I can't go silly shopping
