Evening
Its been a longggggg month! I have nearly finished buying Christmas presents so I am reducing my payments this month so I can finish off the presents next weekend.
My total so far is #189 - £512.00 / £7538.00 = 6.79%
Christmas shopping will be finished before next payday so payments will be back up to the usual amount.
I will make some more payments if the presents are finished before the money

Same, 32b3! We've been doing the savers stamps this year for M*rrisons just to help spread the cost a bit, we always seem to go mad.
I don;t know what I want for Christmas and neither does O/H!! Always helpfulIf we want anything we normally just buy it ...

just popping by with my 1st of the month update: £4550/£10000 - getting there!
I'm starting to think about Christmas too. This year me and OH have set a limit of £30 as we dont really need/want anything. Without a limit i just go mad and keep buying every week, not good. Im frugal with stuff for me, just not gifts it seems.
We decided on a low limit as it reminded us about we were skint students 8 years ago. For our 1st christmas we were only allowed to buy each other 3 presents - i got a photoframe (complete with photo of us), some disney pjs and a teddy. The presents were heartfelt and chosen with thought and attention so trying to get back to that really.:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

Anyone else notice that as we become more money-conscious we're being more like our grandparents? I've just bought myself a pressure cooker for the sole purpose of canning! I also purchased loads of baby vegetable plants for the garden so we can reduce our food budget. The two go hand in hand really, grow too much veg so have to preserve it so I don't waste any. Gone are the days where we'd have things dying in our fridge
Going to go look at a chest freezer tomorrow so we can batch cook even more dinners

I remembered yesterday, a few months ago I increased my pension payments effective from the end of this month. At the time, I was still expecting my promotion and pay rise, so figured the increase wouldn't affect me much, but it hasn't materialised yet, so I'm now effectively going to have a pay cut!
It's only £40 a month, it won't bankrupt me, but I'm a little bit annoyed.
On the plus side, a company I submitted a speculative application to have said they are interested, and might have a position early next year, but subject to a formal interview and workflow.0 -
You are so right Kerri!
I think we all went a bit crazy with credit cards and loans. We were buying things we didn't even need! My parents generation saved for something before they got it whereas now we buy and then work out how to pay for it. Life is now a bit excessive, with cheap clothing we wear once and then forget about, and food that justs goes to waste. Now I'm trying to buy more sensibly and only when I really need to.
Back to rationing and make do and mend!
