i need to start thinking about christmas :| we have a lot of people to buy for!!!

on my side of the family it is 4 adults, a teenager and a dog.

    on my OH's side it's 6 children, 9 adults.

then we have 2 friends we buy for plus ourselves, we also need to consider there are birthdays in september (1), october (1), november (3) and december (2, including me!):eek::eek:
  • You buy Christmas presents for a dog

Any chance you could agree to give/receive token gifts for the adults?

yes, can't forget the doggy christmas stocking :D

not sure to be honest, will have to see. i have some vouchers for a bath and body shop because of mystery shopping, so will try and use those to offset the cost for adults, but they're not to everyone's tastes! my OH was saying that some of his faimly members don't even bother to get me anything anyway, just him, when the gifts we give them are from both of us :-P

gonna keep an eye out for voucher codes and offers for the kids, the disney store for example often does offers on soft toys near to xmas and we got those for the smallest niece last year :)

    Hi Mini Cooper

I would chase for the promotion, and then bide your time a it more.
When you jump ship, you should then get a bit more as well as your not new to that role anymore

    Good luck

    Thanks Determined Diva

Thanks, I agree with you - if I can hold out for a promotion then I will be in a much better position to negotiate my next role, I'm just concerned I might have to wait until January for it. I'm so home-sick I don't think I can last that long!

I started to make my Christmas presents last year - everyone got a couple of bottles of home-made infused boozes (limoncello, orange liqueur, lime gin) which was fine until one of my giftees announced they were attending AA  For birthdays through this year, I made some home-made infused oils (worked out about £2 a bottle, and they looked really amazing!)

This year I'm attempting home-made soap, moisturiser, bath bombs and lip gloss! I don't think these will work out as cheap as the oils, but I think it will look like quite a big selection for only £5 per person.

Bedsit bob of course you buy gifts for your dogs! They're family! I even went so far as to buy my sister's rats a gift last year, as they mean a lot to her.
  • Hi, I want to join you and pay off all my debts by Xmas 2013.

I have been trying for years to shift these debts (credit card and overdraft) but its never been possible before - I was a student, boyfriend wasn't allowed to work due to visa problems, so he went to study instead since he couldn't work. Now finally both of us graduated and both are working and can really attack these debts. Just want to get my life back on track.

My total debt is small compared to some people on this forum but it is a constant lead weight in my mind, always making me feel uncomfortable, guilty and panicky for even the smallest purchase such as food, or coffee with friends. I want to feel free again and be able to save up for things rather than paying interest and overdraft charges :(

So thank you to all of you for inspiring me and giving me motivation to join in! You are all doing so well!
    Overdraft: £2000............. Credit card 1: £2400.......... Credit card 2: £1530..........Credit card 3: £800...............Credit card 4: £800
pay day loan (too sad and ashamed to put the balance, but will be clearing it by the end of this month)

    Warfarin? :p

My mum's friend sells toiletries at craft fairs, and sells tubs of the below recipe for £6.50 a go:

Also it's very good for those with skin conditions! But it did melt in this heat wave!

bedsit Bob aS much as I'd love to say yes, I'd like my sister to still talk to me!
